Little Jimmy Congleton
Little Jimmy Congleton
A regular at the snooker hall, as he winks to his mates once more
He chalks his cue for another shot, as the referee shouts the score
Jim has a disability; he tells folk that it’s spinal
But it never stops Jim focusing; he’s set to win the final
Reds are off and the yellow has gone, next its green then brown
But blue was not for potting, and so jimmy’s score was down
The opponent potted blue and, little jimmy was now worried
With so much pressure on this game, he felt he may have hurried ...

A Biblical Holiday
A Biblical Holiday
I’ve undertaken a project,
With Gods help I won’t need to rush
A hotel in the Garden of Eden,
I’m calling it The Burning Bush
Patrons will all have free transport,
By travelling when it’s gone dark
Noah’s Nautical Taxi,
Will ensure you all get here by Ark
When you arrive you’ll be hungry,
And ready to consume a nice dish
Jesus will feed all 5 thousand,
With 5 loaves of bread and 2 fish
An evening of entertainment
The best to perform while you dine
A specialist in optical...

The morning is… always… so new.
and different…

Rewind
Rewind…
I remember when we didn’t have mobiles, today I suppose it’s a treat
But when I was a lad it was different, just a phone at the end of the street
No fancy calculators, but having had that said
The only ones we really had, were here inside our head
Mobile phones never heard of, no sending texts to your mate
We verbally made our arrangements, promising not to be late
Landlines controlled by our parents, assuming they had one installed
If they didn’t then, out you went walking, and to all your mates houses you called
...

THE CAR
THE CAR
I think I'll go to Blackpool, its really not that far
Driving doesn't take so long, especially in my car
My car isn't much to look at, but it gets me everywhere
It can do things others never will, with lots of power to spare
I've got my pack of sandwiches, and a nice big bottle of pop
Because once I start the engine, there won't be time to stop
I can't believe it's raining, I'll put the wipers on
Swish, Swash, thump, thump, till the rain has gone
The places I have been to, and got back home again
Never...

DON’T FORGET
DON’T FORGET
Please don’t give me credit for what any man would do
Please refrain from sending thank you letters to me from you
A pat upon my back is just not needed every time
I do things out of goodness from within this heart of mine
A helping hand when lifting bags or help to cross the road
There’s nothing too much trouble just to lighten someone’s load
I don’t do things for favour I just do things that bring joy
Fixing broken household stuff and that little kiddies toy
Some people give me kisses and a few they give me hugs
For getting...

YOU KNOW WHO YOU ARE
You came into my life, from nowhere..
and made it a place
Two different people, in separate worlds..
now becoming one
Time has no meaning, only how it is spent..
and who it's shared with
You have become a part of me, an intrinsic piece..
so very precious now
Dreams sometimes make no sense..
but life is the same too
Day and night my heart beats for you..

LOLLIPOP LADY
There’s a house with beautiful rose tree on a winding country lane
Where the lollipop lady lives her life though arthritis gives her pain
A beautiful passionate lady with a heart so big and strong
And the children when they see her start to sing a little song

SWEET DREAMS
SWEET DREAMS
I see you lay there sleeping, your hair soft and shining as it too rests across your pillow.
Your breathing is slow, and everything about you is peaceful, except for the slight movement of your body as the sweet night air is drawn in between your tender lips that are still anointed with remains of lipstick. Your shoulders are bare and feel soft as I gently brush my lips against them. You turn to re-settle and my eyes are overwhelmed with all beauty they can see. Every part of you awakens my very soul, and to see this … all of this, which is mine to savour, I am truly...

Just Memories
Just memories
Looking at some pictures, I wish I was still there
A lovely fresh complexion and a head of curly hair
The clothes that I am wearing were all in fashion then
That special age you go through, when boys turn into men
Days and nights were brilliant, hanging out with mates
Sending scented letters, to a girl you want to date
Just look at me I'm posing, in front of my dads car
As family we drove everywhere, but never went too far
My aunty in the background, that lady on the right
Her hair done in a beehive, to dance on...

CHRISTMAS SPIRIT
The festive time is here again it comes but once each year
When we reflect our own beliefs and often shed a tear
Christmas time is calling and Santa’s on his way
Delivering toys to girls and boys in time for Christmas Day
Pine trees almost ready as they flaunt their sparkling lights
Covering up the presents and on top an angel bright
In churches choirboys singing carols loud and sweet
With lovely white surplices and cassocks to their feet
