AFRICAN SONG

African music blazing from ear to ear,
Music sung because of their fear,
Music that left them in tears.
Just looking at the blood smeared,
Reason for pain was never clear.
Everyday they hoped freedom was near,
The African song to them dear.

Looking beyond the clouds for sunshine,
All they hoped for was a better life.
The African child forgot how to smile,
All they could do was cry.
The African song to help pass time,
And forget being African was a crime.

Freedom to them golden,
A life they had forgotten,
Living life swollen,
Their heritage stolen.
The African song now an anthem,
They hope it will ease the pain,
As they hide their tears in rain,
Hoping this struggle is not in vain.

Their past they try to trace,
Tryna figure out their mistake.
The African song now a fact,
That they chose the wrong race.

The African child awaits freedom,
His comfort is the African song.
