One
I am a locket
on a chain
that hangs
about your neck
and I live
between your breasts.
I am a band
around your ankle
and my bells
call out your name
when you dance.
I am a charm
around your wrist,
and, as you touch
your deepest thoughts,
I am the tinkling tingle
of your breath.
I am the ringlets
in your ears,
and, as you stare
into the evening sky,
I am the vision
in your heart
that is yours
and yours alone.
I am your foot steps,
and every passing placement
becomes a holy spot
where love has made its way
across the great expanse
that is the journey
of all being.
There is no end
to how you and I are one,
and so, to be
in you
is to be complete
and see myself
for the first time.

In my life
I have never felt this way
I have never felt so whole
as I do now
You will never be a trinket
to be worn and set aside
You live within my heart
and there you will abide
I have no words, my love...you take my breath away.

Oh, how appropriate. When Emerson went to Thoreau to get him to stop this craziness about being in jail, Henry told Waldo that the man in jail was the one who had gone along with everyone else. As to the question of who freed Thoreau, he had never quarreled with God and he never was in jail, because by his definition he had gone willingly. He had remained free, even in incarceration. This piece is about that moment. I am free and these chains are ones of my own choosing. Let the spankings begin!

Yah, but does she feel the same way? :) This is another very well written poem. Very nice indeed.
I enjoyed reading it. Thank you.

The inspiration for this work is my friend and writing partner, Petit_Minou; she speaks well for herself, and has a tremendous facility for being able to openly communicate how she feels and what she thinks. This is the latest example of her work: http://deepundergroundpoetry.com/poems/127873-unwrapped/
I read this and I think, here is a woman who knows herself, is confident, and has a real sense of what I am saying to and about her. I can't just take that for granted.
