Innocence is when I hold your hands
trusting fully you will never let me down
Promises made but not kept
Innocence lost, that is it
Innocence is when my daddy said
It will not hurt, trust me
the pin prick hurts like hell
Innocence lost, he lies too
Innocence is when admiring bonfires
flickers of pretty flames, ember flies
Touching it, ouches a-plenty
Innocence lost, baptism of fire
Innocence is ignorance
so they say
Lost innocence is knowledge
it is bravery and courage.

We are honed through our experience as we get bashed against realities; innocence gone, wisdom attained. Such is life. Thank you Magdalena for seeing that.

Now Grace, with this scribe you've made me actually sit and consider the truth of the old saw about ignorance being bliss. Of course its not but there will be days when knowledge is something we'd prefer not have to brave.
