Julie and Mojo
Mosses beside the pool soft and green
she lay reflecting in the water
image distorted, was this her ?
she was alone feeling low deserted,
the god she had need of most and now.
Where had he gone? Would he come back ?
Should she ask? shout into the wild wood
where threats abound, the owl and fox
awake both day and night hoot and howl.
The sun was high hot made her drowsy
put aside her list of things to do,
smoothed furrows on her brow,
took account and slept,
how long she did not know
but when awake the sun was low,
evening light soft cool and white
shone through the open clouds
dark clouds dispersed, gone another day;
home and supper on the table,
children, cats and welcome dog,
Mojo on the mantle shelf.
