Wow, this is a really thought-provoking poem. I don't have any stylistic comments, but I will say that the last stanza is just the slightest bit confusing. That may be the point though. My mind is trying to process what an "undressed life" would be in the context of this poem. It has less offensive clothing than death, which is a great line, so would undressing it just be deconstructing the meaning of it, or would it be equating life and death (devaluing life?)? Either way, I really enjoyed this poem! Great job!

thanks for reading and appreciating so much.  to answer your questions on what i meant by it, well, no, i didn't mean for it to be confusing specifically.  i meant to give a little snapshot of talking to someone who is very much aware, or too aware that life ends, but who wants to stay and watch it while it ends.

maybe it could've gone into the "dark poems" category, but i don't always like giving away that much of the poem's meaning at that point.  i'm glad you enjoyed it.

thanks so much for reading and pondering another thing that i've put here.  unravel?  true, life is not a living being, so it cannot take the action of undressing, but if it unraveled in this piece, it would be the clothing, not "death in less offensive clothing."  i had considered having "her" or "him" instead of "it" in the last stanza, but thought that might change the meaning i intended to convey too much.  or are you saying life's a thing full of potential mysteries to be unraveled, or a story to see unfold?
