Lost Love
i asked my brother
where my mother was
he said she was planted behind the shed
under the old sink
where the 4 o'clock sun loves to hide
decorated with soft golden petals
to remember the color of her hair
i asked my father
where my mother was
he said she sat upon the tallest tree
camouflaged next to the spotted bark
her speckled fair skin glowing
to remember her innocent complexion
i asked my sister
where my mother was
she said she laid in the tall grass
by the hollow
playing hop scotch with her fingers
and the bugs
ignoring the flies but enjoying the company
to remember her love for nature
i asked myself
where my mother was
i said she sat singing softly in a dusty corner
each faint word growing louder
making the corners turn round
her sweet melodies filling the room
the long forgotten space
i once had called my heart
where my mother was
he said she was planted behind the shed
under the old sink
where the 4 o'clock sun loves to hide
decorated with soft golden petals
to remember the color of her hair
i asked my father
where my mother was
he said she sat upon the tallest tree
camouflaged next to the spotted bark
her speckled fair skin glowing
to remember her innocent complexion
i asked my sister
where my mother was
she said she laid in the tall grass
by the hollow
playing hop scotch with her fingers
and the bugs
ignoring the flies but enjoying the company
to remember her love for nature
i asked myself
where my mother was

each faint word growing louder
making the corners turn round
her sweet melodies filling the room
the long forgotten space
i once had called my heart
