Unfinished Cake
I woke this morning to make a cake,
just for the sake of making something sweet,
sometimes people crave that in the mornings.
I gathered all the stuff, the eggs
the flour.
Even the cream cheese icing I can't
live without.
And as I was about to begin
my ultimate, delicious concoction,
I realized I was missing the key ingredient...
Where was the sugar?
I swear I had it just the other day,
because I made a souffle that was to die for.
My brow furrowed, my mind racing,
I start pacing...
Who took the sugar right from under my nose?
My kitchen is clean, seemingly untouched,
but much
to my dismay, it's nowhere to be found...
Oh wait!!! I recall,
all
of two days ago my neighbor
came over, needed the sugar,
borrowed it in a rush.
His face a little flush,
he said he was desperate,
an emergency...
So I guess for now,
my cake will remain unfinished.
just for the sake of making something sweet,
sometimes people crave that in the mornings.
I gathered all the stuff, the eggs
the flour.
Even the cream cheese icing I can't
live without.
And as I was about to begin
my ultimate, delicious concoction,
I realized I was missing the key ingredient...
Where was the sugar?
