seven me's
the first me said thanks
for having the balls to write
the second me appreciated
the tingle down my neck
which ran swiftly
to the base of my spine
and then disappeared
it must have grounded
someplace on the floor
the third me said
i'll bet she tells that
to all the poets she reads
the fourth me said things
no-one would want to hear
and the fifth me
forgot for a moment
that it's just over one year
(writing like this)
and I still don't know
what works best
which is why the sixth me
thinks it's all
a little scary sometimes
when i cant recall a single line
for the seventh me to recite
except my favorite of all time
"Last night when we danced in the rain,
threw our shoes to the moon
and sucked at the stars through a straw"
