The Two That Got Away
The tears came more and more.
Each tear made the puddle bigger on the floor.
Everyone seemed to go away.
All of them leaving without a word to say.
She wanted to fix all her mistakes.
But, her apology, he wouldn't take.
She had messed everything up.
Why did she have to be such a fuck up?
She couldn't cut away the pain.
She was nothing but a disdain.
She couldn't handle the memories.
In his life, she was only temporary.
He was great.
But, she was a little too late.
He didn't even remember her name anymore.
He no longer cared about her.
He made himself stop thinking.
Forgetting her happened without blinking.
All their time together down the drain.
She was something he didn't want to gain.
She wasn't good enough for him.
Their light for each other was always dim.
She wanted him forever.
He was the only one being clever.
She didn't know how he felt.
Her smile always made him melt.
The smell of her hair was intoxicating.
His feelings, he was really good at faking.
Every night, he wished she was in his arms.
Watching her sleep, not letting anything cause her harm.
He would be her protector.
Like a mirror, they would both be a reflector.
Giving each other the same amount.
Neither keeping count.
But, neither would no longer show how they feel.
Both of their hearts experienced overkill.
They shared a short "Hi".
Talked for a little then, quickly said bye.
Both looking back at different moments.
Knowing this should be the final chapter. Please don't close it.
