Another Time and Place
I reach out and feel you in the night
far away and yet close enough
that the heat from your body keeps
me from sleeping
You cannot sleep,
wrapped in your black, silk sheets
you hear me humming in your ear
a small light flashes and I am there beside you
Your mind tumbles in the night, searching
for what we almost had, grasping at what
we could have been in another time and place
We drank wine in front of the fire,
Our voices low, speaking as one
your head on my shoulder,
my love in your heart
far away and yet close enough
that the heat from your body keeps
me from sleeping
You cannot sleep,
wrapped in your black, silk sheets
you hear me humming in your ear
a small light flashes and I am there beside you
Your mind tumbles in the night, searching
for what we almost had, grasping at what
we could have been in another time and place
We drank wine in front of the fire,
Our voices low, speaking as one
your head on my shoulder,
my love in your heart
