Dancing Alone
she dances alone
with no one around, yeah she dances on her own
she doesn't dance when anyone is around
boys are always trying to take her out
but crowds make her want to scream and shout
so she dances to an old song
swaying her hips and singing softly along
her arms wrapped around herself
no her arms aren't around someone else
she can dance
but you ever seeing her dancing she'll never give you a chance
her body moves with the music, soft, slow
dark and low
she dances when she's all alone
she's the kind of girl who likes to be all on her own
she twirls and she sways
to the sound of man singing about yesterdays
she dances her sorrows
she dances her hopes for her coming tomorrows
along is she
but she knows that's how it has to be
she lets her hair fall into her face
as she sways, holding herself in place
she dances to let the pain
fall away from her; like off a cloud drops rain
she dances alone
and she only dances when she is all on her own
