The Unenduring Amplitude of the Acrid Epidermis

 
Ah
the insincerity
of hollow hearts
knocking together
like bamboo  
blowing in the wind.
 
I let your first impressions impress me.
I thought I saw depth
in what was really shallow.
 
I stood my ground,
radiating love  
as I swore I would.
You jumped from one side to another
spitting venom in acid lines
I will not cross.
 
It is not ignorance to understand another's perspective.
 
Go ahead,
keep your blinders bound tight,
stroke the flock of pet egos
you love to keep.
 
Unfriend, unfollow,
watch it all unravel.  
The stitches were too clumsy
in truth  
to hold for long,
 
and we were not much more  
than paper thin
to begin with.  
 
Your empty words  
left me hungry for warmth.
 
You at least
may find some comfort
in the bridge you burned.
