This Is How It Should Be

Who's afraid of the big bad wolf?
He's a coward on a makeshift stage
Caught in the crosshairs of ego and pride
Playing the roles of those who've been blind

I've ventured out kneedeep into the ocean
Trying to create my own waves
I was met with the reality others have been doing much the same
Only half heartedly and half harzardly
Churning out ripples that scan the surface much further
Yet they can never mean as much

You have to have the confidence to assume yourself
And the humility to know where the line is drawn
But with caricatures casting themselves in leading roles
Someone needs to be certain in dropping the curtain

You can whisper and strut
While we scream and dredge through the muck
There's enough canvas to be operated on
Laying yourself down to be outlined and outdated
It's at that moment I'll remind you
I won my glory by honor
Not by compromising for others
And if we get only a small fraction of the opportunity
You've been granted
We'd make more of it
Then being fake motherfuckers

This is how it should be
Unapologetic with something to say
Not just going through the motions
And now everyone is looking towards us
Asking, "Where do you go from here?"
And of course
No one will take responsibility for even suggesting an answer
So here we go

We're going to get our shit together
And focus, focus, focus
Till we've firmly planted our foot in the door
And we'll make the most of it

Because if you give us an inch
We'll take a mile
This is the only thing in our lives worthwhile
From where we stand today
We're fed up with all of your bullshit
And safe to say
We'd fucking kill for it
