Splinters
Theres heartache in the space between us,
emptiness laying heavier than
your name on my heart.
When your arms encircle me late at night,
who are you holding?
Is it the fractured bits of who I was before
the world crashed around us..
or
is it the ghost of another?
Does the scent of her fill
your senses while you sleep..
while I cry..
Is her sweat painted on your skin..
her love on your heart..
What of me
am I too broken these days
too soiled
to lost for you to bring back
and
embrace me as though
you would never see me again.
9 years is such a long time.
dream bins busted long ago..
But I shared the pieces with you
every fragmented splinter
I placed within your hands
and
silently watched as you washed them.
emptiness laying heavier than
your name on my heart.
When your arms encircle me late at night,
who are you holding?
Is it the fractured bits of who I was before
the world crashed around us..
or
is it the ghost of another?
Does the scent of her fill
your senses while you sleep..
while I cry..
Is her sweat painted on your skin..
her love on your heart..
What of me
am I too broken these days
too soiled
to lost for you to bring back
and
embrace me as though
you would never see me again.
9 years is such a long time.
dream bins busted long ago..
But I shared the pieces with you
every fragmented splinter
I placed within your hands
and
silently watched as you washed them.
