Page 7 The Beast
The Beast
Through the land carved the mighty beast
Devouring a life with every feast
The beast ate and ate and ate, its only thought was how to feed
And it grew with all it ate
And as it grew so grew its hate
But its intentions never spoken, it hides behind a need, its name cast in gold, Greed
Since when Greed suppressed the day
And ordered Work to murder Play
To fill its gut with pillaged spoils off every slave and every king
Replaced with blackened rotting seed
That strangled life with want and need
On this alone the people feed as Winter never breaks for Spring
Then one day all was gone
And everything belonged to one
Want and need they were no more, the beast of Greed had fled
But as it fled, Greed brought the night
And darkness swallowed all the light
All were judged wrong and right, all on earth were dead
First came the squalid stench of Sloth
Then the vengeful heart of Wrath
Lust and Envy side by side
Pursuing the glorious chants of pride
Gluttony too, collecting souls that could not be freed
Each and all the Seven Sins bowed down
To the blonde haired child in the pale blue gown
And by the child’s side, the most favoured hound, the mighty beast of Greed.
