Each day
All around, there are constant reminders
Burning scars that hid my pain
In moments of weakness
A searing pain that still lingers
I close my eyes, grit my teeth
As I feel the anguish pulsing through my veins
Inhale;exhale
Haggard and broken I fall to my knees
Burying my salted cheeks in shaking palms
I see the sign, the simple symbol
Permanent on my arm
Wearily I climb to my feet
For I must go on
Alone
Trudging forward
I was born to be alone
Born to persevere
Burning scars that hid my pain
In moments of weakness
A searing pain that still lingers
I close my eyes, grit my teeth
As I feel the anguish pulsing through my veins
Inhale;exhale
Haggard and broken I fall to my knees
Burying my salted cheeks in shaking palms
I see the sign, the simple symbol
Permanent on my arm
Wearily I climb to my feet
For I must go on
Alone
Trudging forward
I was born to be alone
Born to persevere
