The Strait of Magellan

What is your destiny
now that you
have the rest of me?

Stolen my heart
and taken my soul
plundered my mind
my heat had gone cold,
and now all awakened
and ready
and feeding
all that you are
is all that I'm needing.

I just watch as you pant
and you work
turning my spirit
from where it did lurk
taking the brightness
of dreams
of the day
when someone
would see me
and come out to play.

A fool of the universe
mad and intense
long so forgotten
and making no sense
one of the crazies
the lost
and disturbed
and this is the truth
that you've dropped
on this bird?

That even
curmudgeons,
the curious kind,
with nothing
to offer
but sweet bread and wine,
are still to the pallet
of daring and quaint
a picture of Eden
Tierra del Fuego
and Hell's open gate.
