What's in a name?
What's in a name?
I say her name.
Sometimes it's just a soothing sound or a tender call.
It can be a tympani that pounds in my chest or maybe a gentle haunting refrain of that unfinished love song.
More often than not though it is a breathy sigh like tendrils of incense that waft softly to soothe my weary heart.
I say it again and suddenly I feel her embrace and I am warm.
Once more and the softness of her hair glides between my fingers.
And again so I can smell her sweetness.
I close my eyes and say it again. Now I see the beauty in her eyes.
The next one brings yet another smile as I remember HER smile.
I can hear her laugh when I say it now.
"What's in a name?" nothing, really, but THIS name brings with it a thousand reasons, emotions, and thoughts.
It awakens my senses and breathes life to my damaged heart.
"What's in a name?"
Only her.
Only everything.
I say her name.
