i laughed out loud at that line, but i know what you mean. the best description of the feeling i get off this little piece is "endearing"; the realist view in a nutshell. i do, i like it, Sam-I-Am. [:

The words are saying that love is subjective, that sometimes some pain is worth the love that you also get.
It is less illusion and more a case of something being more than one thing; of love being a many morpheus thing.
A rose indeed, but the colour and details are subjective and left empty until experiences fill in the gaps.
