Being And Becoming
At the mirror she stopped
for a few moments she watched
her reflection fading to nothingness
Raised her shoulders in indifference
turned her back at this mere inconvenience
- panic and horror no more
Besides, she kind of suspected it
- she kind of expected it -
and now she knew
Unceremoniously she put her mask on
"Only when I put you on I'm true
and only then I'm something"...

Hearts Flush
If I had an ace, or even a king of hearts
under my sleeve
the world would surely be
a far better gig...", said he
"Then stop searching for the perfect heart
in every emoticon set
that happens to fall in your hand...", she calmly replied

Four 'Always' In Four Lines For Tight Jean Back Pockets
Shit inherited, always, not proportionate to meekness exhibited...
Not, always, a happy meeting when you, finally, find yourself...
Dreams are not, always, killed... Occasionally, they die natural deaths...
Truth
is, always, elsewhere
and never in the middle...

We Are Done, Penelope
Penelope
walked in the spacious bedroom
slowly.
At its center
she stood facing Ulysses
who laid on his bed
across her
curled up and shaking.
He rolled up off the bed
and ran to her.
Down on his knees he went
before her.
He grasped around her waist
and held her tight
pressing
the side of his face
on her tender belly.
"We are done, Penelope!"
he mumbled
"Those pretenders to my throne
bought off the troops
and turned them against me!"...

These Last Few Months
These last few months
with all her nights sleepless
she often tried books
she went from books to movies
she even tried pills.
One other time
after hours of bar hopping
her bedroom door she opened wide
for a handsome young man
- done by the long expecting
done by the many whiskey shots -
and spent her night
with his heavy snore at the edge of her stare...
She thought of his pick-up line at the bar:
"I'll be the cloud, always, over your head
for just that rare occasion you need rain"...
She frowned a smile ...

Today, I break my silence just for you and, maybe, another; (breaking a silence is like throwing a kiss to somebody. You never know who is going to catch it). I break my silence into thousands of little pieces, careful not to lose any of them, not to waste any of them. And more than anything, careful not to step on any of them. With the utmost care I pick each one and place them all in a brown paper bag. (Don't try to decipher the meaning of brown, it's the only bag I have) I write your address on the bag and I drop it in the mail box and I wait...

Our History
We, then, one question ask:
Did Socrates before drinking the hemlock
see his glass half full or half empty?
And we proceed!
Fragmented pieces of ourselves we may be
but in unison we speak.
You and I could never be "us"...
However, we have been
and we shall, always, be "them".
You and I - with nothing to be against -
our road we walked alone
and yet, we never had each other...
Our footprints on the sand
- like non-parallel lines, traveling through the infinite, but never meet -
prove...

When the revolution was around the corner
I was in a circle
- and, that alone sufficient is
to set the record straight:
I kept every appointment,
history chose to cancel -
A historian I am not
but my mind's crystal ball with clarity reveals
my past to be woefully incomplete
and in some parts lacking my presence!...
As for my present
it starts with most of my winks missing their mark
Two or more fingers around my neck
do not a necklace make
An umbrella always in hand
just in case maturity bits descend on me ...

She's A Simple Why
She's a simple, unadulterated Why
under siege by every because
that offers spins and never answers.
She takes a deep breath and waits
she slowly becomes a subtle, suspended, incomplete gesture
pregnant with as many interpretations
as the eyes of her myriad beholders...
under siege by every because
that offers spins and never answers.
She takes a deep breath and waits
she slowly becomes a subtle, suspended, incomplete gesture
pregnant with as many interpretations
as the eyes of her myriad beholders...

She Understood
It wasn't an apocalyptic vision
she had, or anything like that
She just understood
what it was coming to:
Two trains on a collision course
She knew which train
she'd be on as memories of her mother's
favorite words
quietly came to mind:
"On the day of screams
choose your vowels carefully"...
