Her wounds were sealed with a ruby wax
that bled open when the sun shone
her lips were sewn shut with threads
spun from the entrails of memories
she wore the night for a cloak
and danced with the bones of old ghosts
who’d carved their names on her skin
that bled open when the sun shone
her lips were sewn shut with threads
spun from the entrails of memories
she wore the night for a cloak
and danced with the bones of old ghosts

A curious case of sacrifice
There were no tears or cries for clemency
she stood expressionless
tore the broken skin from her back
and made a hang-man's hood
then handed it to her executioner

Danse Macabre #5
For only the dead truly know death
and yet, all and sundry will tell you a thing or two
you, who live and breathe
do you know about sadness
unfettered wailing with flaying arms
an aching emptiness that feeds
the desperation for something
one thing, anything to bring back
what's been snatched away
for only the dead truly know death
and yet, all and sundry will tell you a thing or two
you, who live and breath

Lubritorium
She came and wept
came again, then crumbled
flayed senseless
by tongue, tail and cane
then she twitched gratitude

Evapmospherics
you are a monsoon
and I am the fish-in-the-mud
folded in two
because the sun drew you back
to the sky

and we, all three of us are trying to make ready our
minds for what's coming. the quiet times post conversation invites the force of it all to let its weight be known. there is sadness, and a palpable fear about the house when I visit, but there is a love, stronger than its ever been for as far back as I can remember
Circle the wagons
even at the bar
the firm handshakes are changing
to a light slap on his shoulder
because hardly anybody
wants to look death in the eyes

where has it all gone
and what's more
why didn't it say goodbye
when it passed me on leaving
and what was it anyway
to this day, all I have is an inkling
of something thermal
2
They , have something to say about everything
the shamans of any given situation
with their talk of stitches
and kettles, early worms and bushes
it must be quite something
to live a life
wrapped into neat sentences
3
the last time a god spoke to me...

Night whisperer
i]..a little awkward maybe yes, but isn't that part of it all
you know, the knee jerk stumble just before falling over
or is it floating.. because, forgive me
Behold the night, she said
it may be cold, but there's magic here
all you have to do is believe
then she beckoned him towards some pine trees
she stood
against the backdrop of moonbeams
that steered their way through the branches
just to drench her, luminous ...

Tunnel visions
my thoughts have traveled train tracks and I've looked for
you especially in the tunnels between stations where there's no light
A man sat beside me on the platform
his head cradled in his hands
stealth crying
but his shoulders were giving him away
and the wheels on his chair
swayed a little
he looked over and paused
his face was thick with deep lines
and he said
"I'll tell you this my friend
if you'll lend me your legs
I'll run onto...

You'll need to get to know your houses
1. The fourth house
In the fourth house
there is a definite darkness
I'm almost certain
that it rolled out from the hearth of it
and clung to the floors, walls and ceilings
because when the doors slam
the rooms wheeze like tar clogged lungs
and all those who dwell there
are weighted down by the black holes
that the darkness spits on them
there is blood here
but it's the thinnest of them all
I've seen it, seen them...

eek said the wisdom
I'd told him it was a dead mouse
picked it up off the side of the road
and handed it to him
his little face
displayed a comedy of expressions
and then he put voice to his feelings
with a long "ewwwww"
but had he looked properly
he'd have seen it was just some old wood
that looked like a mouse
and that
concluded the lesson
don't.trust.anybody
..perhaps
the lesson was an afterthought

For Sophie * Tá buille nua le mo chroí, agus is breá liom é
My darling
it's almost like you robbed the gods
of all their beauty
when you passed through their nebulae
on your way to bless us
this world lost some of its shadows
the moment you screamed out your first thoughts
and brought the tears from your mother's eyes
and princess
it was no surprise for me
to feel your tiny hand wrap around my finger
but when I whispered your name
and your eyes opened briefly
to...
