POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
My name is Dale.I like all forms of writing and art. I've been writing a long time but have never tried to publish anything. My poems tell stories, but usually not about me. They are just random thoughts and observations.
Wishing for Spring
Fluffs in the sunlight,
drifting thermally.
Leaves on a breeze.
Still slaves to gravity.
The setting suns,
Yellows, orange, and pinks.
Then purple and black,
stippled with winks.
Inhale so deep,
of someones cut grass.
Grilling out,
and sweet sassafras.
My eyes open back
on winters cold grasp.
Sniffle and cough,
in my chest there's a rasp.
Shivering cold,
so close to death.
Searing sharp pain
with each cautious breath.
If I can hold on,
Another month or two,
Sky's finally changed
From dark grey to blue....
drifting thermally.
Leaves on a breeze.
Still slaves to gravity.
The setting suns,
Yellows, orange, and pinks.
Then purple and black,
stippled with winks.

Closed eyes
I believe in me no more,
I don't think I exist.
I go through life, my eyes closed
so I can't see the jest.
Life's cruel joke is suffering.
It's played on you and me.
Loyal soldiers marching on,
into eternity.
The crust on my eyes crack.
Pieces fall.
I'm like the little twisted things,
Such a shade of grey to be,
Living out our broken dreams.
Best friends with melancholy.
More crusties fall.
I can almost see.
All I want for me today,
is to just lay down and cry.
But I don't...
I don't think I exist.

Well Earned Reprieve
Awaken, it's time. The red fills my sight.
Silver gleams in the malign moonlight.
Liquid mercury movements made,
My only encumbrance, an athame blade.
My prey is known, I hunt by scent.
I know the ones my master meant.
Convoked by mortals, guilty of ignorance.
Sacrifice made is only half the expense.
Now I'm here, seems they've opened up hell.
I come in trust for the souls that they'd sell.
It's only for now that I do as I'm beckoned.
But when I finish, it's not as they reckoned.
"Be still, my dear, It will just hurt awhile.
My master...

Big Words
Homo-sapiens as a species are a virus
on the face of the Earth.
Their total lack of empathy,
a callous indifference towards suffering,
coupled with a constant animosity toward
one another and the planet suggests
there is a fundamental lack of something essential.
It is a species in dire need of eradication
if the planet is to survive.
The apathy in which they greet their own demise
is appalling.
Finally, I've had enough.
You know, the moment you realize
how futile your life has been
and how grand a plaything your emotions
are...

Lycanthropes' Love
Every night I see you,
running through the sky.
Bone cold orb, snow blue.
Wink of mid-nights eye.
Slowly full, from nothing turn.
Cyclic redundancy.
I await, through daylight burn,
for her to call to me.
She slowly climbs
the evening shade.
Infinite times
this journey made.
Dawdling, changing shape.
Always changing,
endless ranging.
Forever I await.

Naked as a jaybird.
I'm a bee in flight.
Impossible,
but there anyway.
Pure will,
Pure faith.
Forever, only me.
There's no way out.
Psychopathic sociopath,
sinister me
Idiopathic,
Like all man-kind.
A disease of unknown origin.
Lost in this
Profound Obscurity.
Falling in this trap
of lies, head first.
Just like I believe.
Living out
this magic act.
I no longer believe in.
I no longer care.
I only want out.
Out and out.
Down and out.
Brow beaten,
mistreated,
accused,
abused....

Beast or Me?
I've been feeling strange
these last couple days.
It ain't me, in the mirror I see.
It's more like a creature
on some late movie feature.
I blink, and once again it is me.
I let go a sigh,
And try not cry.
I laugh, my emotions a wreck.
So I look to see,
Is it beast, is it me?
If it's beast, I think I'll wretch.
The beast in the mirror,
whose image is clearer,
with every passing night.
At first it was horror.
Then just some terror,
now it's a smidgen of fright.
I'm starting to like it.

Good Ghosties
I just had to spend one night.
On a bet that I'd run in fright.
I went to see just what may roam.
In the halls of the murder home.
At first it all was fine,
I even had a little wine.
Suddenly, there came a change.
All the furniture had rearranged.
Just when I had passed it off,
I heard a disembodied cough.
But there was only me,
No one there but me.
There came to my ears, a crash.
That's when I began to dash.
To the door I tried to run.
But I fell down upon the rug.
I flip over, and crab walk back,
knocking down...

I return
I look upon all the stars,
Wondering just what we are.
What will become of this,
and what of this I will miss?
I think of my life before,
Before the time I was born.
How bad I must have been.
To acquire all this sin.
It is getting darker now.
I lay the razor on the ground.
I close my eyes and see,
The ghosts surrounding me.
They've walked with me always.
All the nights and all the days.
Soon I will walk with them.
She looks at me and grins.
But then her smile fades.
As my eyes begin to glaze.
She sees all the blood,...
Wondering just what we are.
What will become of this,

The Fall of Yggdrasil or Forever Night
When demons call,
and dragons fall.
Beware, the call of man.
When blood is spilled,
prophecy is fulfilled.
We try to make a stand.
But one by one,
we all will succumb.
'Til there's no one left to fight.
No chance to rebuild,
once nature is killed.
Nothing left but forever night.
We can not abstain
from natures disdain.
Shame fills my heart, look away.
Protection will fade,
'Tho it's why we were made.
No more sun to light up the day.
I can no longer take
all of the mistakes,
or those who claim it's their right....

Serial Me
I'm good at making friends.
I make one at least twice a month.
Sometimes even one a week.
It's so easy.
I don't drink, but a bar is a great place to start.
Usually, I find someone that deserves it
pretty quick.
After I pick one out,
I buy her a drink.
and drop in the pill.
Pretty soon we are dancing.
When she starts to fall down
we go back to my place.
I cut off the pieces I need,
then sew them back together again.

Nature is silenced
We're slaves, open graves.
Constitution, evolution.
Beg for peace, life will cease.
Blood is lost, cold chill frost.
Wage for war, near deaths door.
The night is black, hear whips crack.
Work or die, eternal cries.
Give your breath, serve til death.
Sorrow fulfilled, nature is killed.
Burnt trees, silent pleas(e)
Black night, quiet fright.
Hateful things, this evil brings.
Sun burns out, enraged, I shout.
Solemn cries. Wicked eyes
intensely stare. Always there.
Why do we wait, until it's too late.
Tortured to violence. Nature is...
