POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
#655
Clouded, cold, curved glass moulds my image
All images
Over and under my eyelids
All my could-have-been's
Tyre marks and bent metal, earth and late regret
Warm flesh against mine
Entwined fingers or fractured spines filed down along asphalt
Lips and tongues dancing or exposed organs renouncing just one last throw of a life
Just to spite the true end
Just one night with true friends
Just one bite to her neck
One gasp of breath
A slow smile.
Then bring me death.

Blameless
The cold night, unfaltering
Cradles the séance
I lead you from my thoughts
Drenched in memory
A smile felt behind the eyes
Clenched fists grip your absence as I lay with the first light
It beckons with vengeance.

Cradles the séance
I lead you from my thoughts
Drenched in memory
A smile felt behind the eyes

Collected
Lifeless in a glass case
Delicate powdered wings pinned in their most elegant pose
The pre conceived grimness of death soaked in a camouflage of elegance.
Your story weaved and force fed to those who remain by the pens and mouths of your captors.
A legacy so glorious
Manufactured
Excluding your hardships
Ideal

Remove thy shift.”
Command of blackened promise
Earth bleeds under foot
A compass forged in flesh
The scent of pine beckons
I become all fear held in life
And rise beyond being
Dirt under nail
Hair snared in teeth
Jaw agape, eyes wide
Someone once told me why street lights are yellow
It was so simple but I can't remember why
Grip the handle and focus
Command of blackened promise
Earth bleeds under foot
A compass forged in flesh
The scent of pine beckons
I become all fear held in life
And rise beyond being
Dirt under nail
Hair snared in teeth
Jaw agape, eyes wide
Someone once told me why street lights are yellow
It was so simple but I can't remember why

If I could impale you
On this image of such a fragile idea
That protrudes from my mind
Like an ever growing
Spire of ice
On the surface of a moon
Orbiting a planet we forgot
I would pull you down
To it's base
I would hazard you to describe it's core
Knowing that you could not
I would smile at you're stuttered arrangement of words
Your reckless explanation
I would question myself
I would beg forgiveness
I would thank you
I would ask for direction
From any God or mortal that would listen
These days
I hold you both in...

That protrudes from my mind
Like an ever growing
Spire of ice
On the surface of a moon

A blade buried to the hilt
In a wish, hope or dream
Veins rise, Teeth sink
Eyes shine, Skin drips
Fist wrapped in a neckless
A temptress ensnared
In a sweat soaked head dress
Vomeronasal, I'm far from stable
In your hair playing cats cradle
Supine fly trap
Relapsed into black thoughts
Back on the floor
Dragging her claws
Queen Felon
Looking at me like the last pawn on her board.
In a wish, hope or dream
Veins rise, Teeth sink
Eyes shine, Skin drips
Fist wrapped in a neckless
A temptress ensnared
In a sweat soaked head dress

Relapsed into black thoughts

Looking at me like the last pawn on her board.

Restraint
The idiot sun laying heavily across your shoulders
As you dance for rain
You beg me for what you cannot return
And so I warn you for the last time
Physical form will be but a distant memory.
The very essence of what you are will be exposed to the purity of my hatred for a thought pattern of your own creation.
Blink twice if you understand
The idiot sun laying heavily across your shoulders
As you dance for rain
You beg me for what you cannot return
And so I warn you for the last time
Physical form will be but a distant memory.
The very essence of what you are will be exposed to the purity of my hatred for a thought pattern of your own creation.

The Turn
As once a child, the sting was felt
The fear so fresh and blunt
A scholar though he was at heart
The words fell death and dumb
Calendars were forged and burned, an epiphany was sung
The fists fell heavy, hard and true
Of the man I have become.
The fear so fresh and blunt
A scholar though he was at heart
The words fell death and dumb
Calendars were forged and burned, an epiphany was sung
The fists fell heavy, hard and true
Of the man I have become.

Black light exposure
Piercing radiance of what I scripted for shadows and the grip of earth, stone, clay, water and paint
Drenched in whatever I can afford it blinds and screams
It explodes in to knowing
Only in a chamber
A barrel rifled intricately and suppressed at it's ending
Spitting splintered damage into sand I struggle to breathe through as it covers me
That familiar blanket of my refusal to vent
My tailored pain and unshareable acidic reason
I envy atlas
I will carry it into and beyond my end
It is all I have and all I could have hoped for.
