A Cross in the Road
At times the words come easy
They flow effortlessly off the page
I can scarcely scribble fast enough
Seems to last forver and a day
And then a cross in the road
Blocks my path to nowhere near
Casts me into darkness
Why does my pen take me there?
Days turn into nights
Inky blackness drowns my will
Head down, defeated
By mere words, ink, and a quill
In the dark as midnight still
I stumble on a cross in the road
Grabbing at pen and paper
Towards the light races my soul
Grasping for the furious...

Furious Clock
Tick tock
Tick tock
My life is like
A furious clock
The years go fast
Before I can grasp
Tomorrow is already
In my past
Father Time
Is running out
What is life
Really about?
Lingering in the past
Looking for a future
Lost in the present
Later or sooner?
A new place
A new life
Someday soon
I will find
No looking back
Mind still spinning
Running towards
A new beginning
Tick tock
My life is like
A furious clock
The years go fast
Before I can grasp

My Guide
I think about my life
And how I made it here
The good, bad, and in-between
Memories of mine kept near
Running to my daddy
So glad to see his face
Being tucked in by mommy
Made this little girl's day
I learned to ride my bike
Yelling "daddy don't let go"
Mommy walked me to the school bus
Nervous about the unknown
Long summer nights
Playing til after dark
"Just one more minute please!"
Was the only worry in my heart...
The smell of breakfast in the air
The sound of Saturday mornin' cartoons
Lazy days...
And how I made it here
The good, bad, and in-between
Memories of mine kept near
Running to my daddy
So glad to see his face
Being tucked in by mommy
Made this little girl's day
I learned to ride my bike

The Looking Glass
From the outside looking in
What did you expect to see?
A put together puzzle
Boasting sweet melodies?
The love I felt was fire
Your careless words burned my mind
Folded up notes too creased to read
Colored too bright – leaving me blind
Looking in the mirror
What did you expect to see?
Scattered puzzle pieces
You are looking at me
A one-way mirror
You lean in for a closer look
I am standing on the other side
Reaching for what you took
My hand against the glass
You smile at yourself

No One Ever Knows
Sometimes late at night
When darkness is all I see
I close my eyes, hold my breath
Imagine what death would be
The pounding of my heart
Is not the only sound I hear
My labored breathing, gasping loudly
As memories become so clear
Would life go on the same
For everyone who knew me?
Would anyone remember my face
Look at my memory only sadly?
Sometimes all I really want
Is to matter to someone and then
To be looked at like they love me
Hold me so I don’t feel broken
I feel my life slipping away
Pieces fall to...

Amazing
No matter what the future holds
You always have my heart
No number of miles can take away
Or rip our souls apart
Forever entangled within my mind
Your memory is always there
I long to hold you, kiss you, touch you
Whisper how much I care
Make you feel how special
And just how much you mean to me
You would know by looking in my eyes
My love for you is endless, you would see
The very thought of you
Still gives me butterflies inside
My desire for you is alive and well,
it only increases with time
...
You always have my heart

Living in his shadow
I know at times
He does not understand
The hurtful things he says
But, still, I hold his hand
His mind begins to drift
Seized by mass confusion
He is no longer able
To tell reality from illusion
The demons start to chase
His broken and tattered soul
I continue to stand with him
But all the while I know
To get ready for the onslaught
As he sinks deeper in the black
I brace myself to wait it out
Hoping this time he comes back
Back from his silent hell
No one knows what...

A Better Tomorrow
I dream about new places
My future is at hand
No longer afraid to go
I am destined to take a chance
I don’t know what will become
Of the past I leave behind
When I step out of that dream
Searching for my future I will find
My place in this crazy world
Somewhere, I will fit in
And start a new beginning
And learn to live again
It is merely just a matter of time
I feel it in the making
My destiny is calling loudly
My happiness is worth taking
A chance to start anew
See what life really has to offer ...

The madness you know

To haunt your dreams

Sweet Muffin Summer
Summer is here with memories again
All of me and you
The very first flight of lightning bugs at night
Brings back a love so true
Talking and laughing and holding hands
Just sitting on the porch by your side
My heart would take off on a high-speed chase
As the smell of fresh baked sweet muffins drifted by
Waiting for you was always a treat
Just thinking of it now makes me grin
Grabbing your hand and kissing your lips
I knew from that start we were all in…
Cowboy boots and lacey denim shorts
The look in...

The night would begin to arrive
Her heart would beat so fast
She drove her car down that curvy road
To a love she knew would last
Anticipation grew within her
At each and every turn
Until she reached the one she loved
For his gentle touch she yearned
The headlights cast a shadow
On the gravel road she turned
The soft glow of candle light
through the window welcomed her
He would open the door
Smiles spread across their face
Her nervous hands touched his
They fell into a warm embrace
Slowly...

Time Stand Still...
Where is time going?
I feel us in the past
Is your love really leaving?
Why can’t this kind of love last?
I guess you must be on your way
My soulmate, I’m always missing you
You have always given me courage
And helped me make it through
I don’t know how to do it
To face this world alone
When my soul was tired and weary
And I thought I could not go on
You gave me strength
to lift myself up
And filled with love
My life’s empty cup
Is the love no longer flowing?
Am I crying over memories spilled?
