The Looking Glass

From the outside looking in
What did you expect to see?
A put together puzzle
Boasting sweet melodies?
The love I felt was fire
Your careless words burned my mind
Folded up notes too creased to read
Colored too bright – leaving me blind
Looking in the mirror
What did you expect to see?
Scattered puzzle pieces
You are looking at me
A one-way mirror
You lean in for a closer look
I am standing on the other side
Reaching for what you took
My hand against the glass
You smile at yourself
I lean in for a closer look
Can you see fire from hell?
The burning liquor
On your breath
Fogging up the glass
Love has suffered death
A drink too late
The shot-glass killed my trust
No need for live bullets
The bottle was corrupt enough
The seatbelt won’t hold
When you get thrown to the past
Always remember
It is me in the looking glass
