Poet Introduction
irrepressible joie de vivre
[Ra][Ze]
What does it mean to be profound?
The notion is pretentious
If I dig a hole
Is it a dip or is it a blemish?
When you stand at the end of the street
Are you in the same neighborhood?
And to hate|love
To be good?
The notion is pretentious
If I dig a hole
Is it a dip or is it a blemish?
When you stand at the end of the street
Are you in the same neighborhood?
And to hate|love
To be good?

The radio is running, I'm sitting eating fruitcake, my mother's Turkish drama emanates from the downstairs.... And then the lights flicker for a second, and then they come back on, and the radio broadcast disappears and turns to static and fuzz a moment after, I understand the wave of what happened, the radio recovers and comes back on, nobody else notices.

4 Way Street
Breath, breadth, depth, death
Intriguing that all 4 mean the same thing, mirrored,
Take a breath, no more: death
Breadth=depth=no more life to live left
The canary sings from its cage
Let it out and
The cat kills it
And the frost has not yet frozen the earth
So digging the grave is still viable
And I kiss you
And I tell you we’ll be together in love
Intriguing that all 4 mean the same thing, mirrored,
Take a breath, no more: death
Breadth=depth=no more life to live left
The canary sings from its cage
Let it out and
The cat kills it
And the frost has not yet frozen the earth
So digging the grave is still viable
And I kiss you
And I tell you we’ll be together in love

Can-A-Bull
You wring your heart
Strings cut, fate;
Ameliorate the Bermuda triangle
You never understood the train’s scheduling
Bye for now, and for always
Which sandwich did you order again?
I always recommend the fish and pickle
But you might not like it.
Mean median mode
Standard deviation
A technical equation
Strawberry hand spun milkshake
Whipped cream and cherry on top
I slingshot, aimed for Goliath’s brow
And miss instead
And arc across the land
And land in your hand
You cradle me and
Tell me...

Stillborn Winter
In the morning
In the dead space before sunrise
In cold November
Where the freeze warning makes good on its promise
And the field is white
The devil is in the details
Well, it's also very cold
Sunrise is not here yet.
And so the spirit of death touches the lip
As you hurry to the warmth of the door
But this lingering frost
That nibbles and giggles on the carried air
It nips at your toes
As you try to fall asleep
And looks to find a crack
In whatever you're wearing
In the dead space before sunrise
In cold November
Where the freeze warning makes good on its promise
And the field is white
The devil is in the details
Well, it's also very cold
Sunrise is not here yet.
And so the spirit of death touches the lip
As you hurry to the warmth of the door

a{jar} of honey
A waltz
One, two, step, together
Hand in unlovable hand
On our way down the hallways
Dark-ringed circles spotlight the floor
As we move in and out of the light
And we move past a partly open door
That says
“Do not enter”
Written on a small note
I wonder why I can’t go in.

circadian memo
And all through the house
Not a creature was stirring…
But for the clock.
In my room,
Darkened, low light,
Clawing tree branches
Stars, city smites
I glance up and wonder,
Then in came a shock
A minute to the hour
Read the old old clock
11:59
The day about to die
Life to live no longer
Completely out of time
And the hands of fate inched closer
To a zenith of middling degree
Seconds pass, then a whisper
Of a day’s soul set free
But only for a moment,
Caught in...

The Grass Grows White
You can see your breath in the air
The morning is cold
It is only 50 degrees
An interesting temperature
Nothing has frozen yet
But it might as well all have;
I extend my eye and hand to the sky and land
They have fallen asleep
Even the sun
It hangs in the air
Dozing
The light is bright but it has no intent
Like a lamp left on by accident.
I have to put my hands in my pockets now, and I wish I brought a hat;
I use the hot water when doing the dishes now,
We had French onion soup yesterday for dinner, ...

Things That Come Down Also Go Up
In the sense that I am a fabric wing
I move through the air,
By colliding with billions of tiny invisible units
And they press me away from themselves
Deny me the ground, for now
Icarus flew too close for the sun
Well, it was his fault for wearing wax wings
In reality the sun is lightly impatient
It hurries along the sky
Even on the longest days
Even on the summer solstice
The attention is on the pentacles’ rate of disappearance
‘And it is the longest day of the year’—and every other day so far shorter

i need to stop being [apologetic]
My ability to love
It’s the flatlining of a latex balloon
I float for an hour
And then I am gone
Why can’t I stay near the ceiling
My rubber insides melt as I drift upwards
Getting too close to the sun (lightbulbs)
And then I am melted and stored in a glass bottle
Chamomile smoke and pressed petals
Firmly trapped in the thick transparent
The lemon seeds sprout eagerly
Will you divine the ground and find the water,
We have established permanent settlements in each other.

It’s darkened
We’ve been here for hours
We slept together
Long day
Running back and forth
I kept trying to pull you
Like a yoyo string
But the string broke
And I had to rewind the string
And I realized
I wasn’t supposed to pull the string at all
I am to let the yoyo fall
Pulled by gravity
Not by me
Who am I to control the sea
I am not the moon.

Oh Golly
looking close
i miss out
i forget to see you
turned away even though I'm looking at you
i want to hold you
i cannot feel your face,
though my lips are placed
just below your eye, next to your nose.
i wait on the hill in my head
it's sunny
i miss you
canned emotion (laughter)
nothing to buy and
no money to buy it with
I'm unsure of what to do;
kiss me and tell me I'm loved
"this your last week Tony?"
"yep!"
