The Great War
I saw the fear in her eyes as she looked up at me
I guess she thought I'd kill her
but I was there to rescue her,
to rescue her from her sorrow
no matter how hard I tried to tell her I was the good guy
the look in her eyes never changed
it was as if she were born that way
I picked her up into my arms and put a blanket over her
We walked out of that place for the war was finally over and we were all free
she had been there long waiting, hoping, praying
yet she showed no joy of being free
I kept telling her we were free
but still no change...
I guess she thought I'd kill her
but I was there to rescue her,
to rescue her from her sorrow
no matter how hard I tried to tell her I was the good guy
the look in her eyes never changed
it was as if she were born that way
I picked her up into my arms and put a blanket over her
We walked out of that place for the war was finally over and we were all free
she had been there long waiting, hoping, praying
yet she showed no joy of being free
I kept telling her we were free
but still no change...

Grandpa
I still remember that day the day you went away
I never spent much time with you,
but the time I did was just enough
before you got sick
I remember every sunday trying to get dad to go with you
I remember you still had meat on your bones
I remember my seventh christmas when you gave me that pink toy pony
I didn't like it that much but I still played with it
I remember the words you said to me a while before you left
you said on your wedding day I want to buy you your 'white' wedding dress
it was only a week later when I understood what you meant...
