POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
Introduce me as a poet? Ok. Hi. I'm a poet
Roll Over
In days passed
You would lie in your bed
Tossing and turning
Your dream catcher left you nothing to see behind those eyelids
In days of now
He lies with you
He lies to you
You would lie in your bed
Turning
Because you can’t stand the face you see
Not tossing
Because you couldn’t toss him
Not because the street is a cold place to sleep
No sympathy lies for that man
You and him are as far away as a king size will allow
You lie turning
Not tossing
Because there’s three in the bed
And the little one said
Roll over
You would lie in your bed
Tossing and turning
Your dream catcher left you nothing to see behind those eyelids
In days of now
He lies with you
He lies to you
You would lie in your bed
Turning
Because you can’t stand the face you see
Not tossing
Because you couldn’t toss him
Not because the street is a cold place to sleep
No sympathy lies for that man
You and him are as far away as a king size will allow
You lie turning
Not tossing
Because there’s three in the bed
And the little one said
Roll over

Jagged rocks
Out of everything done to me
I will never forget the jagged rocks
Out of all the blades for a soul of spades
All the creative destruction I could muster
There is no way I will forget the jagged rocks
I used it all
Glass
Mirror shards
A pencil topper
A piece of sandpaper Dad had discarded
These are tools I long to forget
With marks I cannot omit
Mother caught me
And I cannot describe what I felt
Look what I had done to her son
Her reaction was worse than I could have imagined
She stroked me
My arms
My face
My hair...
I will never forget the jagged rocks
Out of all the blades for a soul of spades
All the creative destruction I could muster
There is no way I will forget the jagged rocks

a coffin made of would
I would cry my eyes out
I would do everything right
I would make the sun shine
I would make a storm
I would smash glasses
I would tear down walls
I would burn you to ashes
I would give life to that which has not
I would create concepts
I would destroy means
I would give you the finger
I would rip you apart
I would tear the world apart
I would rip space to pieces
I would be the apocalypse
I would be the saviour
I would be the bringer
I would fix it all
I would fuck it all to a pit
I would do anything
Anything...
I would do everything right

Power hungry
When you see me
I will be looking for power
Trying to sell my soul
Praying for a miracle
For a fate I do not own
To make it all better
To untie all the knots
And make a beautiful bow
There is no place I would not go
I would not only sell the life I have
But the one I am to achieve
For a power I do not own
To go back
Undo the past
Make this beautiful family what it was supposed to be
Make it last
But upon the sale of the soul
The reply to the prayer
They come to me with nodding heads
Its not up to you
I will be looking for power
Trying to sell my soul
Praying for a miracle
For a fate I do not own
To make it all better
To untie all the knots
And make a beautiful bow
There is no place I would not go
I would not only sell the life I have

White lesson
We were kids
We didn’t know what we wanted to be when we grew up
We didn’t see it coming
You were supposed to be someone
I don’t know who
But that’s who you were supposed to be
And your last lesson still haunts me
I was supposed to be in your tailor made clothes
I was the man to be in your place
Before I became a man
My mind is unable to accept this
And your last lesson haunts me
You taught me loads
You gave me a friend
We played Spyro
And looked for your rabbit around the house
I was to be you
And you me
Because that’s...

the beginning
The nurse watched.
The teenage girl came in
On a stretcher.
She knew the beginning of the story.
“Goin out with some friends mum”,
She would say back to the now injured
“When will you be back”?
“Tomorrow”.
“Where are you sleeping”?
She smiled,
And the nurse knew the joke now.
She wouldn’t be sleeping.
The teenage girl answered
By saying a made up friends name
And saying the friend had no home phone
That it was broken.
The joke was,
That the teenage girl
Wouldn’t be sleeping.
They would find an act,
That would take...

Poetic Preconceptions
What do you write
Who do you like
Name your favourite poet
And why don’t you show it
Do you read Plato
Oh
You Don’t read at all
Are you a fan of Shakespeare
Are you a regular in a theatre or
Are you in line waiting for Goddot
Oh
You don’t get that joke
So…
what do you write
What messages come to light
Is politics your muse
Do you play the rock star
Do you use
And make a three page verbal flip
On a really good acid trip
Oh
None of those things
Who do you like
Name your favourite poet
And why don’t you show it
Do you read Plato
Oh
You Don’t read at all

maybe this (poetic shart)
Stand with the poem
Wailing atop a waterfall
The next two lines
Facing away from the watcher
And towards a lightning storm
Being some magister of this majestic malice
Two lines after that
A butcher reading from Queue cards
The next two lines
This is ink on paper
It is the most precocious thing I own
Nothing stands taller
Nothing falls more beautifully
Than these words on the page
And I had the idea of a visual whirlpool of words
But suggestions
Have progressed
To impression
These ideas
I hate them
Because...

Very specific science
Chemisty to alter brain biology
To mimic narcotic chaotic
But with sadistic specifications
Twice as strong
Half as long
Leave you wanting more
A gateway drug
A door
As by design
There are scientists in a lab
Who use their vast knowledge to create and fuel junkies
Thats business
That's profit
Thats food
For us gutter bound heroes of consumption
Never did they see their deeds come to light
Never did we think our bodies would fight
And when they closed
The last gift from barberic business men...

Pre-apocalypse
Shattered buildings
And ruptured earth
A blood red sky
And a new set of wings
This is the wake of what I had to do
This is the world that couldn’t go on
Bad foundations litter every skyscraper
It was all built wrong
On false pretences and lies
So I took it apar
tBrick by brick
Until the planet was nothing
And I could start over
It looks bad now
As all you can see is rubble
This is going to be something new
Something great
Built on everything but corruption
But as man and his kind rebuild
A small tower of old rises ...
And ruptured earth
A blood red sky
And a new set of wings
This is the wake of what I had to do
This is the world that couldn’t go on
Bad foundations litter every skyscraper
It was all built wrong
On false pretences and lies

And i shall Call him The Black Rabbit
He will tell tales
Of getting out of the hole
He will preach epic stories
Of defiance
Ofdirt
Of darkness
i will call him
The Black rabbit
Because not even he knows
How far into the black he's gone
(Garbage-sleep)
Of getting out of the hole
He will preach epic stories
Of defiance
Ofdirt
Of darkness
i will call him
The Black rabbit
Because not even he knows
How far into the black he's gone

The Guilty Grey
The rain falls
The flowers drip yellow
My hair drips brown
She loses her fiery colour
Within her hair
All colours enter the gutter
All colour slithers across the drenched cement
And I stare at her
Through grey hair
Sagging down my face
She knows the question
As do I
But the answer lies in front of me
The guilty grey
Finally the colour is clear
That drips from my hands
There is now nothing left
And I pant
The fire inside me
Keeping warmth
And sanity
My breath crawls across the air
And splashes across her...
The flowers drip yellow
My hair drips brown
She loses her fiery colour
Within her hair
All colours enter the gutter
All colour slithers across the drenched cement
And I stare at her
Through grey hair
Sagging down my face
