Engaging The Holiday Spirit
I'm sure I wasn't the only man (or dad) at the mall
that noticed Santa's assistant
I wouldn't go as far as to suggest she was an elf,
for the maturity of her was obvious
I would assume between thirty and forty
but those knee high
candy cane stockings
paired with that tiny skirt
and form fitting sweater
certainly drew the eye a couple of times
I had the fortune of holding the door for her
as we scrambled to the exit
on the overhead announcement that the mall was closing
Santa had finished a half...

Curtain Call
And so the time has come
to abandon the world of imagination
such a comforting to place to reside
but also that crutch
that keeps one from moving among the living
The revelations arrive
all at once
when the universe
taps you on the shoulder
giving that push
to bravely take that step
into something unfamiliar
maybe even frightening
to a degree
I have lived to survive
for much of my adult life,
meaning little luxuries
and mostly hard work
to keep nourished and sheltered
I have not...

A late arrival,
almost eleven at night

a paperback in hand
your robe parted
in such a way
These eyes can do little
but keep returning
to the availability displayed
and giving licence
to what I crave
I come closer
removing my pants
as you playfully feign disinterest
But I know better
almost wagering
you've read the same line
six times
since I returned
It must feel different
