LOVE POEM

Kindred
There is love.
Deep
Distant
Tangible
From another time.
It comes as a whisper
From some far away place
And settles
Warm and familiar.
Never met,
Never touched.
Somehow I feel
We walked hand in hand
Down a beach.
Talking of everything
From the stars to the ocean floor.
We dreamed
Together.
You make me believe
In things
I don't actually believe in.
Another life
Gives reason
For knowing you
So well
So soon.
It gives me peace
To think
We've explored our possibilities.

Self Sacrifice
Perhaps cutting out my heart
Is the answer
To this dilemma.
Who needs to tie a string
To everyone
Anyway?
There you are
Caring,
But wanting.
Here I stand
Unsure which need
Has become greater.
I want to give you everything.

Delicate Secret
The sun wilted the flower
That I grew inside
My secret garden.
I never should have believed
In the sincerity
Of a passing sun,
But he promised he'd be careful.
The flower first grew brighter.
Pink blushing petals spread,
Blooming to his soft touch.
Sunfire licking
At the very heart of her.
She turned her swooning head
To follow him across the sky.
Alas,
The sunset always comes too soon.
He whispered colorful goodbyes
As he slipped past the horizon
To shine on other gardens.
Petals fell and pink blush faded...
That I grew inside
My secret garden.
I never should have believed
In the sincerity
Of a passing sun,

Wish Fulfillment
The very thought
of being able to taste again
your tongue
dripping thick with love
may drive me
simply
mad.
To feel out in person
the fantasy
we both played
alone
with fingers tight
in a room
scented with romance.
I would gladly go
into the past
and into your arms
to earn with trembling legs
the look
only your eyes can give.
You touch more than my skin,
and my lips will do more
than speak words
as they wrap around you.
We will give our hearts
what they have...
of being able to taste again
your tongue

Dollhouse
for the competition If Your Mind Was a Room What Would Be In It?
My room is full of broken glass,
Reflections of a shattered past.
Dreams drift softly near the floor,
Trampled as they walked out the door.
I framed the moments I wished to recall
And hung them frozen on the wall.
If you listen, you'll hear before long
A very softlovelysadangry song.
A box in which I placed my heart
The packaging was torn apart.
Made of glass, you can see not touch. ...

The Last Piece ... that I can't let go of
for the competition My Clothes
I keep it
So I can always remember
Your arms
the safest place to go
Your hugs
none have ever compared
Your warmth
that is still carried in my heart.
To remember the happy
and not the mad.
To remember you loved me.
Loved me.
Even though all the band-aids
And kisses
Couldn't make it all better.
I thought they were supposed to.

I keep it

Reminiscent
I wonder at the way things could have been
If you'd let me be yours
The way I'd wanted to be.
If I had not shied away
From the loving words you spoke.
There was no pressure,
Just the easy comfort
Of being together.
You made me see myself,
I gave you courage,
But neither of us were brave enough
To stand up and say
This is what I want!
We had one night.
One amazing night,
Where we let go of everything.
Lived the moment.
Saw a future.

Unsteady Footing
for the competition Your Steadfast Love
I slipped
On your steadfast love.
I wasn't watching
Where I was going.
Usually I know better.
I stood
On your immovable will,
Trying to reach
Your arms
Held just above me.
I wasn't tall enough.
I peeked
Into your open mind.
Saw broad horizons
And caught a glimpse
Of fun and dirty things.
I think I saw myself in there.

One Remains
for the competition First Blood
We stood there,
Side by side and eye to eye.
She moves like I move,
But her smile
Is a little more sickly.
The twinkle in her eyes
A little more dim.
I remember her
Too well,
And watched her do things
I wouldn't care to repeat.
Twisting hearts on strings
And breathing death
Through straws,
Not noticing the scars she's caused
And collected.
I know she liked it.
No, loved it.
Reveled in it,
Then walked away smiling, ...

Haunted
The tears,
They burn.
They weigh heavy,
Streaming down my face
With the ghosts of all the tears
That came before.
It is a familiar pain.
The players have never changed,
The answers have never come.
The shadows laugh and laugh
From the corners of my mind,
Knowing I will never find
The dark places in which they hide
To turn them out.
I wear this pain,
Etched in my very name.
Breathe.
Just breathe.
Let the shadows laugh.
Let the heavy fall away
Like leaves...
