Let Me Die By The Knife
Cut me down with your sword
I'd rather die by the knife
Dont cut me down with your cruel tongue
Please have respect for my life.
If I'm to fall by the grace of God?
Then fall I surely shall
You wont break my back with your rod
Instead I will firmly stand tall.
Feed me with your wisdom, nurture my soul
Practice on me if you will your devotion
Dont break my soul, if you, must break bones
But please take care with my emotions.
If I'm to be slayed, if I'm to be tortured
Then torture me as you please
I care...

Poor Old Apostrophe
Poor old apostrophe
I'm an apostrophe but nobody knows me
And they dont know where I fit in,
It's all abbreviations and computer text
So I dont know where to begin?
Modern people just dont know what to do with me,
And the youngsters dont know I exist
Now with all this new technology
I'm forgotten no matter how hard I persist!
I was useful in the days of William Shakespeare,
And I feature in many of his plays...
But were talking hundreds of years ago
Nowadays I'm in no ones essays...
...

Midnight Madness
Midnight Madness
Laughter at midnight?
How can that be?
It's you, your hilarious
It's nothing to do with me...
When I listen to your stories
The way you tell them too
Broken into small sentences
Then you finish with, it's TRUE...
Then you tell me that tomorrow
Theres more stories to be heard
I listen to you intently
Like to every word you've said.
Then once you've told your story
You never want to stop
It's because you have a lot going on
And could chat until you drop.
But I like...

Lessons Of Love
Lessons Of Love....
A mysterious tale
Like a coverless book,
You can't see what's inside
So take a closer look.
Take off the lining
Unpackage the sadness,
Dive under it's surface
To reveal all the madness.
Listen very closely
But fear no fear!
The sound of suffering
You are sure to hear.
Don't close your eyes
Do not run away!
Stand by her side
Cos no one ever did stay.
Please hold her tight
So she won't feel afraid,
Teach her how...

Pages of my life
The sensitive pages of the book of my life
Are open for all to see
I've nothing to hide and I've nothing to lose
By letting you all see the real me.
So if you've ever wondered
Or if your just a curious sort?
Go ahead, read about my life
It's not extraordinary by any resort.
Sometimes theres been laughter
Sometimes theres been tears
Theres often been a combination of the two
But none so plentiful as in my twilight years.
To all of those who know me
And to those who's path I have crossed, ...
Are open for all to see
I've nothing to hide and I've nothing to lose

"1972"
1972
Life in 1972 was better than today
The Sun shone brighter and came out on time
The rain would stay away
And "my things" weren't wholly just mine...
Music too was better by far
There was no pressure in growing up
We could play for hours in the local park
And we ALWAYS knew when to shut up!!!
Children had respect for their parents
There was absolutely no talking back
Parents never gave in the way they do now
Todays parents are incredibly slack...
In 1972 we played football ...
Life in 1972 was better than today

Never fear tomorrow
Or run from yesterday

With new games we can play...

The facts that we now know
They helped us reach decisions,
They helped us learn and grow..

Pitlochry
Pitlochry
To my left there are loads of fir trees
To my right an impressive fountain
A river runs fierce before me
And the water is supplied from the mountain
The sky above me is powder blue
And the grass below is lush green
This could be heaven on earth
Its the most beautiful place that I've seen...
Theres no wind, no rain, no nothing
Its tranquil, incredibly peaceful
Rabbits and Squirrels are everywhere
And a stag standing by looks so regal
People smile as the pass you
All of them say hello ...

Chapters In Search Of A Novel
Chapters in search of a novel
That's what I think I am?
Not sure, but somehow, someway
Theres more to me than a simple man.
Words begging to be written down
All with something to say
These words are part of a story
That no one but me could play...
A vacating soul always returns
And right now mine is on vacation
When he comes back I'll be me again
You'll know me without hesitation.
I've grown a fortune in wisdom
I've grown in age and pride
Nothing can take that away from me
I have so much love burning...
That's what I think I am?
Not sure, but somehow, someway
Theres more to me than a simple man.

Toying With My Heart
When I see you in the morning
It brightens up my day
There are so many thoughts on my mind
So many words I want to say
I want to tell you how I feel
But those words I just cant find
They're all mixed up in the thoughts
That are running through my mind.
Plus I'm scared too, I'm terrified
This wasn't supposed to happen
I cannot stop thinking about you
All my thoughts are over lapping.
But I've been keeping it all locked up
Because I know theres isn't a chance
You never look my way
