POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Arbitrary Words
At first I was hesitant to take the plunge
but you pulled me in anyway.
It was difficult in the beginning
but you helped me learn to swim.
We shared moments,
you and I.
I felt your warmth
and you felt mine.
Always strong arms
holding on tightly.
But somewhere along the line
your arms loosened their grip
And your feelings began to waver.
It was your promises that broke my heart.
You said you'd love me forever and never leave me..
Arbitrary words.
I guess I was naive.
I'm drowning in uncertainty-
Did you ever love me?...
but you pulled me in anyway.
It was difficult in the beginning
but you helped me learn to swim.
We shared moments,
you and I.
I felt your warmth
and you felt mine.
Always strong arms
holding on tightly.
But somewhere along the line
your arms loosened their grip
And your feelings began to waver.
It was your promises that broke my heart.
You said you'd love me forever and never leave me..
Arbitrary words.
I guess I was naive.
I'm drowning in uncertainty-
Did you ever love me?...

The Wilted Rose
My love is like a rose,
its petals soft and soothing
And all its beauty and its life
convene when it is blooming
Its gentle fragrance pulls me in
so sweet and yet so tart
But daggers through the fragrance claim
my unprotected heart
The fragile frame begins to fade
and leaves begin to crack
And all the red runs down the stem
leaving my heart black
its petals soft and soothing
And all its beauty and its life
convene when it is blooming
Its gentle fragrance pulls me in
so sweet and yet so tart
But daggers through the fragrance claim
my unprotected heart
The fragile frame begins to fade
and leaves begin to crack
And all the red runs down the stem
leaving my heart black

A Midnight Occurrence
An invisible hand paints beads of water upon a foggy glass window. The sound of light tapping as the hand leaves its mark. The hand continues until its duty is fulfilled and then vanishes, as if not even there to begin with. The mural on my window, the lone proof of its existence. Silence now. I can feel the room getting smaller as I retreat into my thoughts. I feel alien in my own room, as if I do not belong. With each passing thought I feel myself growing further and further from my surroundings. The sheets come alive! They begin to swallow me with such ease I can hardly imagine what force...

Breathless
Her beauty ignites a burning passion
Deep inside
A rising need to possess
her body
her mind
her heart
Filling every corner of her mind
as she does mine
Overwhelming desire
burning through my veins
entices me to pursue her
and leave her breathless
as she
has left me
Deep inside
A rising need to possess
her body
her mind
her heart
Filling every corner of her mind
as she does mine
Overwhelming desire
burning through my veins
entices me to pursue her
and leave her breathless
as she
has left me

A Conflict of Heart
It's your smile
that dares me to take the plunge
Unaware of all the dangers that could pursue
I take the first step
Deeper into the water
I cannot swim but you guide me along
Your unchanging heart a beacon that I follow
But in all this, there is an uncertainty
For love is fickle
and many hearts have been cast into the darkness in its pursuit
Forever frozen to the world
Do I dare wade deeper into the water
when all that could await me is love's wicked torment?
As I contemplate my own foolish grievances
I turn to you ...
that dares me to take the plunge
Unaware of all the dangers that could pursue
I take the first step
Deeper into the water
I cannot swim but you guide me along
Your unchanging heart a beacon that I follow
But in all this, there is an uncertainty
For love is fickle
and many hearts have been cast into the darkness in its pursuit
Forever frozen to the world
Do I dare wade deeper into the water
when all that could await me is love's wicked torment?
As I contemplate my own foolish grievances
I turn to you ...

The Fray
Bleakness surrounds her
that sorrowful soul
Tears fall like razors
through eyes black as coals
Desperate she clings
to the ever fading light
Her soul left in pieces,
her mind left to fight
As darkness closes in
and light fades away
this sorrowful soul
is lost in the fray
that sorrowful soul
Tears fall like razors
through eyes black as coals
Desperate she clings
to the ever fading light
Her soul left in pieces,
her mind left to fight
As darkness closes in
and light fades away
this sorrowful soul
is lost in the fray

A Letter to Grampy
When you died time stood still.
It didn't seem real
The world became a frightening and strange place
Nothing was the same.
I was thrown into an abyss
lost from the world
Hiding.
So much pain bottled up inside
No one to reach out to
Everything seemed to darken, to lose its glimmer
as if you took the last of the light from this world with you.
I was so lost. So scared. So alone.
In the midst of my darkness I found you again
You were all around me
In the laughs, the smiles, and the tears of all your family.
This is what you left us-...
It didn't seem real
The world became a frightening and strange place
Nothing was the same.
I was thrown into an abyss
lost from the world
Hiding.
So much pain bottled up inside
No one to reach out to
Everything seemed to darken, to lose its glimmer

I was so lost. So scared. So alone.

The World is a Colour
The world is a colour
without any shades
The people a canvas
whose souls never fade
My mind is a brush
that paints where I go
That paints what I see
and paints what I know
Billions of people
all painting their thoughts
From the oldest of them
to the littlest of tots
Each person's soul
an original piece
That joins the collective
when their body shall cease
Their beauty overflowing
for all who will see
The beauty of you
and the beauty of me
without any shades
The people a canvas
whose souls never fade
My mind is a brush
that paints where I go
That paints what I see
and paints what I know
Billions of people
all painting their thoughts
From the oldest of them
to the littlest of tots
Each person's soul
an original piece
That joins the collective
when their body shall cease
Their beauty overflowing
for all who will see
The beauty of you
and the beauty of me

The Clock is Ticking
The clock is ticking some would say
To end the night and bring the day
To forget the toys behind the dust
And leave the thoughts of you to rust
The rain is falling on your grave
The thoughts of you I cannot save
Are washed away like fallen leaves
And swept amongst the the autumn reeds
The clock is ticking and day must fade
Into the night and through the shade
But do not fret to see me go
We'll meet again in winter's snow
To end the night and bring the day
To forget the toys behind the dust
And leave the thoughts of you to rust
The rain is falling on your grave
The thoughts of you I cannot save
Are washed away like fallen leaves
And swept amongst the the autumn reeds
The clock is ticking and day must fade
Into the night and through the shade
But do not fret to see me go
We'll meet again in winter's snow

Darkness Falls
Darkness falls
Nothing but cold, still air.
Searching for companionship, for warmth-
but all is lost.
Each glance a blade, each passerby a poison.
The suffocating black embraces me
Constricting. Gripping. Tighter! Tighter!
Breathless. Floating in a sea of darkness.
A faded light shines in the distance like that of the last dying embers of a once raging fire.
I swim toward it, struggling against the currents and the waves
but the grasping hands grip tighter and tighter still.
The light drifts farther and farther away. It is lost.
I am lost....
Nothing but cold, still air.
Searching for companionship, for warmth-
but all is lost.
Each glance a blade, each passerby a poison.
The suffocating black embraces me
Constricting. Gripping. Tighter! Tighter!
Breathless. Floating in a sea of darkness.
A faded light shines in the distance like that of the last dying embers of a once raging fire.
I swim toward it, struggling against the currents and the waves
but the grasping hands grip tighter and tighter still.
The light drifts farther and farther away. It is lost.
I am lost....
