POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
All mad all the time. ***I'm still here I've just taken a bit of a reprieve to reflect on my self and my life. It has been very exciting and informative and best of all, transformative. I will return but in a different form, greater than before.
The Hesperides and the Dragon
A greyscale of irreligious life.
I wonder to myself who is this "I" that I see and with whom I identify.
Following this bouncing ball to its convoluted destination where it slowly loses momentum and rolls into the underbrush.
Punctured by wild rose thorns, its air seeps out and the loss of pressure is fatal.
It covers a piece of ground and hides the sparse vegetation that once represented a growing idea, a building block of the ego.
If only Hope were a weapon.
If only a simple light could show us the way.
Those things stand between my perception...

Along The Way
(-Winner- of the 'Talk To Yourself!!!' competition)
Along the way I'd ask myself
"Why try so hard when others win with ease?"
"Abandon! Abandon!" came the cry
The reckless reply of the voice I tried to please
"With whomsoever do you contest to play this game called life?
What do you see or think there to be at the journey's finish line?"
"I do not know but only fear an empty, cold embrace.
What angel, beast, or spirit here could calm this shadowed face?"
"All that you shirk and think to shun is uncertainty at best.
Let them do...

I, Demonslayer
With a look of fearful doubt I started on a journey to the place where the skeletons in my closet play with the toys in my attic:
There stood a demon looming over me, blinding me with his shadow. I shined a light on him and the demon disappeared, and underneath was but a man of stone without a face. A chisel and an intimate understanding took care of the rest.
There was a demon curled in fetal position, rocking and whispering questions to himself. I led him to a library in which he could find the answers. He smiled as he read through the truths he had sought for so long, but...

Bloodsucker
Drive a stake into this vampire and watch him crumble back to the dust from whence he came. Look into his eyes as he leaves you and tell him how much you love him. Show him some mercy! He doesn't want to live as this monster! He's on the inside turned inside out to air out the depths so they won't decay. The structure seems so fragile and yet has an underlying strength that is almost unfathomable, but its depths are filled to overflowing. Filled by a well. A wishing well that hardly has any room left for flowing water what with all the coins that have been cast in the name of hope....

The Sycamore
I planted a seed and a Sycamore grew.
I watered it and fed it everyday
and it showed its appreciation by growing.
It grew tall and beautiful,
hiding me in its shade.
But the more it grew
the more it's shade became a deep, cold shadow.
Soon I realized
I had created a far-reaching, foreboding monster.
It was no longer appreciative but became expectant,
and I it's water-bearing slave.
The cold was making me weak and sick,
so I lit a fire.
The torch's glow hurt my eyes.
It had been so long since I...

Seeking Comfort With A Tiger
Once, when you were young
And over-apt to dream
You beheld a tiger
And it was breathtaking.
After all, and for what seemed like forever after,
All you did was think about and dream of those
Large, focused, topaz-yellow eyes,
sparkling wild and playful;
The sleek grace and raw power of its finely tuned frame
Stalking its territory knowing all within were prey;
The beautiful and unique adornment of its rust and amber hues
Cut neatly into segments by slash-like black stripes
Violent and precise.

Sweet Torment
You have given me sweet torment
Which I return to every night
The enchanting smell of your perfume
Lingers as I turn out the light
The gentle hum of your voice
Echoes through my ears
The comfort of your embrace
Drives away my deepest fears
Your eyes brighten the darkness
To which I am always prone
And your heartbeat reminds me
That I am not alone
If I had known it was to end
I would have changed my wicked ways
So here I sit and curse my deeds
From now to the end of days
Which I return to every night
The enchanting smell of your perfume
Lingers as I turn out the light
The gentle hum of your voice
Echoes through my ears
The comfort of your embrace
Drives away my deepest fears

Fit For A King
I know the ghost who sings to me
Of all the wrong I’ve done
He reminds me of my miseries
Numerically, one by one
He serenades me to my knees
My disgraceful tale retold
Phantom choirs join for harmonies
All pains increased ten-fold
The maestro and his orchestra
Compose a rhapsody
A hellish ballad rife with tears
Summoned by grim memory
Armed with ghastly instruments
And melodies for lies
The strings of sorrow resonate
False emotion in true guise
The music builds to fevered pitch
My instabilities are...

Vox Dei
In a word I heard the voice of God.
Not as the word itself but the silence between its' syllables.
In the nothingness, between its' sounds, I felt the limitless expanse of all eternity.
This moment of rest that also held the beat of the Sacred Heart, kept within it the inhale and exhale of the entire living cosmos.
A peace, unimaginable before this moment, enveloped me and helped me see that I was an element of all time and space; inseparable from all creation.
My fear of death and loneliness washed away in the gentle ebb and flow of the tides that now carried me along...

The Tethers of Love and Trust
Speak in low tones to keep a secret
Enamored by your helpless adoration
Just focus on those things that bind us
When there's always time for contemplation
The blindfold only adds mystery
To our private trustworthy perversions
Ignore the voice of inhibitions
And indulge in surrendered diversions
Shed your silken modern-day armor
Lay full prone to the ravages of lust
Revel in vulnerability
A tool to temper our love with our trust
Reach above your head to your halo
And I'll secure it tight around your wrists ...

Sunstroke
Oh terrible dawn
Feed me not the light of yesterday
For this morning holds new dew and is whet with the perfume and paradise of its original intent
Dare outshine me not, eclipsing sun
Your day has come and gone and been passed on to me
These brilliant rays will henceforth touch days I have yet to come and see
Continue on, though, if you must, in your predetermined fate
Windswept and put away by any passing cloud
As of late this ground has been drenched to its root to say how dare I make a villain out of you ...

Waking State Of Emergency
Seasnakes and Earthquakes
Pillows make the dream go faster
This second chance for circumstance is brilliant when it comes to pressure
Lost in a feeling that would be flattered to be mistaken for your entire world
Sipping the wine of life
Snorting a line of wife
The sense is falling out of a whole in my pocket
Whose dread did you bring home, from wherever it did roam, estranged?
Give it back
Unless you don't want returned what you gave in exchange
Typical and Mystical, the cards you were dealt
Played, knowing full-well the consequence,
Retelling...
