POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Beautiful evil
From the moment we’re conceived
To the moment we’re brought to be
One of the first thing we learn is beauty
“Look how beautiful they are”
“Such beautiful eyes”
And many more compliments that aren’t always truly compliments
It’s sad to say, that so many of us learn beauty before love
Before trust or before we even find our voice
We may not know what two plus two is
But we know that we have beauty
And we know at a young age how much power it holds and how to use that power
But what we don’t learn at a young age...

Jigsaw Heart
Have you ever started a puzzle, but not been able to finish it
Well, that's how my life has been, ever since I met you
You're that missing corner piece to my heart
I've searched for what seems like an eternity
I’ve tried countless amounts of different puzzle pieces
I've even tried moving on to a different puzzle
Every possible scenario I could think of to complete this puzzle I call a heart without your love
Trying to fill the gap in my heart by letting others stick their corner pieces in my puzzle
But none of them fit
Because none of them...

Naive young bird
Am I just young?
Am I dumb?
Am I naive?
Believing every lie you would tell me
Lies that you chewed up and fed to me, like the fragile baby bird that I secretly am
Heartless they say
Woman of steel with tear ducts to match
But deep down I was just a baby bird waiting for you to come home and feed me more lies
More heartache
More sleepless nights
Tears rusting these steel ducts and making their way down my face
You left me to starve in that nest
Waiting and waiting on you to return
SoI flew out to venture and fend...
Am I dumb?

Tired eyes
They say the eyes are the window to the soul
So why do I see dirt and regret every time you look at me?
Staring into your soul
Into a flower bed with dead weeds, no life in sight
You made me feel like a queen, and now I feel like that flower bed
I could have sworn your eyes were blue when we first met
As full of life as you made me feel
But now I see they're as brown as the dirt within your soul
Each kiss, each touch, each sweet lullaby you ever told me are now as dead as the flowers you neglected
I call them lullabies...
