In-Home Education
Where I grew up
Divorce happened five months after the wedding
That all happened because of one little mistake
Wrapped in a pink blanket.
Love was temporary
Men came and went,
And eyeliner was "the only way to make boys like you".
I was taught
That cigarettes are medicine
Drugs are a solution,
And pain should be watered down
By vodka.
"Running is the only option sometimes"
And
"Love will never last."
"Hope is futile, baby girl"
"Don't dream."
And now I'm here ...

I'm Sorry Mama
I'm sorry mama,
But your baby girl is gone.
She found out that you were right-
She has to be strong when others say mean things
But she can't be when it's her that thinks the same.
I'm sorry mama,
But your baby girl is an addict.
She listened to the advice you gave her-
"Find a way to cope with the pain"
But I'm pretty sure your solutions don't involve a lighter.
I'm sorry mama,
But your baby girl is depressed.
She heard you say,
"Sometimes you're just going to have bad days"
But every day is the same, bad...
But your baby girl is gone.
She found out that you were right-

he kissed me
he bit me
he made me smile
he took away my pain
erased my sadness
kissed my scars.

Razors and Flowers
Life'
Is carved into my skin
Even as I watch the essence of the word
Seep slowly from within.
The dark red relief
Dripping from my veins
I put fire to flowers
And trip on the pain.
There are no words
To describe how I feel
But I believe my sanity
These drugs did steal.
I look in my mirror
At my red eyes, in vain
Looking to see
If the red hides the pain.
But the pain still exists
And behind it, a girl
Broken and empty
Abused by the world.

Painted In Blood
If love is a sin then I'm going to hell
I had no idea how hard I fell
Until I landed, broken and bruised
You made it feel pointless
You made me feel used
There's nothing I'll say to change your mind
There's no remedy I can possibly find
For the scars you've burned into my heart
I never thought we could be so far apart
The love you showed me was shallow and fake
The blood from my wounds is what you can take
I don't need it so I can live on
I'm letting go because you're wrong
You said I'm worth nothing
But when I'm further than...
I had no idea how hard I fell

Modus Vivendi
The mask that I wear has won the game
I seek not money, glory, beauty or fame
I look for only the removal of pain
We are always interested only in gain.
Running from the darkness
The pit
The abyss
Pain is and understatement compared to this.
The dissolving of the soul
The disappearing heart
The chemical love
From which we cannot bear to part
The hate we consumed
The spirit of Satan exhumed
The façade
The mask of kindness
Is all we pursue
Never the long road
Always the short cut
The door is open to...

Mixed Feelings
Broken
Hurting
I look at the flame
Smiling
Laughing
I light the source of my shame
The devil on my shoulder
Killed the angel long ago
With no one else to help me
This is where I had to go
Haze
Courage
Builds in me as I inhale

I Am That Girl
There once was a girl with makeup on her eyes
Dye in her hair
And scars on her skin
She had a terrifying past
Always was surpassed
And had superficial friends
She was stuck
She turned to drugs
Finally felt like she fit in
She met a man
Who helped her find
All she had within
And then he left
And left her trust
Worn and paper thin
She made more scars
Fell too hard
And no one heard from her again.
Dye in her hair
