POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
How was I to know
How was I to know,
That love could not grow
In cracked cement.
How was I to know,
That we were both the scattered
Cement pieces leftover
From a terrible earthquake.
How was I to know, your love, your touch
Even your voice would bring my
Broken pieces salvation.
How was I to know our love would
Grow to be so addicting.
How was I to know when enough was
Enough?
When a drug is so alluringly intoxicating,
It's laughable to think you'd ever put it down.
How was I suppose to know that out of
Everything I've been through...
That love could not grow
In cracked cement.
How was I to know,
That we were both the scattered
Cement pieces leftover
From a terrible earthquake.
How was I to know, your love, your touch
Even your voice would bring my
Broken pieces salvation.
How was I to know our love would
Grow to be so addicting.
How was I to know when enough was
Enough?
When a drug is so alluringly intoxicating,
It's laughable to think you'd ever put it down.
How was I suppose to know that out of
Everything I've been through...
