Know justice ... Know peace!
Langston speaks on Michaela DePrince: the devil's child
Song for a Dark Girl
Way Down South in Dixie
(Break the heart of me)
They hung my black young lover
To a cross roads tree.
Way Down South in Dixie
(Bruised body high in air)
I asked the white Lord Jesus
What was the use of prayer.
Way Down South in Dixie
(Break the heart of me)
Love is a naked shadow
On a gnarled and naked tree.
by Langston Hughes

looming asteroids
flying dragons soar within
open a child's mind

I don't belong to you
I don't belong to you
You always seem to want me
And just take me at the most ungodly hours
I'm the mistress you need to make sense of the world
You spread me open
Forcing your face deep within
I ride the bridge of your nose
And wrap myself dutifully around your sentinels gauging the waves as your temple pulses with each discovery of the unexplored yet familiar
You find shelter and comfort in my arms
because what others hear as the ramblings and mutterings of a crazy man
is a passion filled symphony between...

... in charge ...
I have the book with the answers, guess
that makes me in charge
Saturday
she pushes too hard
elms stripped of divinity
if i fall i'll die
Sunday
they said - No - to war
they bleed our hypocrisy
death trumps conviction
Monday
shed my cold cocoon
a little girl needed hope
miss her already
Tuesday
nobody listens
creative idea I'm told
thirteen years later
Wednesday
pushed back once again
my best just not good enough
pain harvests success

bad ass Rocky
bad ass Rocky
the first one was a sparkle collared prissy little snit
yappy lil' thing that used my shoes whenever she'd shit
wasn't really my dog, more like hers than ours
she got pampered and kissed, I was left to wank off for hours
I came home one day and realized the lil' bitch was gone
she'd taken the dog too and life seemed like a new song
while walking in the park pondering my life and enjoying an autumn day
I came across this big brown fella who seemed to me a stray
I cleaned him up and he seemed...

Father and mother called me into the kitchen after I had finished my work in arithmetic, not the daily assignment of my teacher, Master Yen; but rather the thirty extra problems father had composed for me. As he always did.
These "discussions" as father called them weren't discussions at all. He talked and I listened as a dutiful daughter should.
When it was something he was proud of, he'd kiss my bowed head at the end of it all. A star for his "Firefly".
If it was something that brought shame unto our house, or our family name,...
