Yard Sale
Vultures circling,
waiting for death,
Smelling the dying of my fight
Wolf packs gathering,
salivating,
sensing weakness,
bringing prey to their knees
Yet I stand within the storm,
protected by my sign
'Yard sale 8 to 2 - no early birds'
Unleashing the horde,
ripping and tearing
Will they see my loving memories,
through the haze of feral greed?
Will the bones of my life,
so carefully displayed,
be gnawed upon once again?
Or will they die,
at the end of the day,
forgotten on Wednesday's
trash...
waiting for death,

The Universal Force of Dents
Some days are good
and some are bad
but good or bad they dents
My car has dents as does my ego
even my self esteem
has received a knock or two
In fact, the universe runs on dents
just look at the moon
and the same goes
for solar systems and meteor showers
Where have all the dinos gone
after an asteroid dented the earth
Without a world full of dents,
we would all be velociraptor...
and some are bad
but good or bad they dents

Real or Pretend
Men pretend
within their disguise
to be legends of the past
to be the knight in shining armor
[white charger optional]
often times rusted and bent
Strong and fearless
little boys playing war
but real men don't play these games
thinking this is lame
knowing their true power
is the nobility of spirit
to carry the weight of the world
Walking tall with iron will
my heroes don't wear capes...
within their disguise

The fingertips of my emotions
Into an ominous quiet
of a world waiting in fear
we are deaf and blind
to the love we can not hear
mute to our desires
that can only be conveyed
by the slow sensual feel
of emotions touching skin
as lust becomes our fingertips

that narrow ledge,
bordering insanity

Pots and Pans are People Too
There are square ones and round ones,
small ones and big ones,
even fat ones and skinny ones
Pots and pans are people too
and seem to be lot like us
The mean ones burn your food
and sear you with a wither gaze

Hibernation is Underrated
hibernation is underrated
buried deep
in an igloo of blankets
hiding from the cold,
my life, my job,
all the hate in the world
cocooned in my queen size cave
I'm not coming out
maybe I'll see you in spring
just look for the signs
as our hearts begin to sing
and love grows after the snow
don't try and wake me
I'm a grizzly with a sore tooth
a wolf caught in a trap ...

California dreaming
hot burning feet
sweat and sticky sand
god how I miss the beach
the crowds and waves
and summer heat
I'm dreaming
of washing sand from my bikini
getting hit by errant frisbees
gooping gooey sunscreen
and frying in the sun
listening to the Beach Boys
a deep dark secret
I've really got it bad
winter's not even begun
I'm California dreaming
of endless sandy beaches
riptides and sea shells
and oh so cute lifeguards
posing when I walk by
you can't help wiggling your bum
walking in the sand ...

Being meek just reeks
There's a certain point
when being meek just reeks
and you're no longer weak
clasping a bright shining sword
raised as a warning and ward
you draw a line in the sand
[shag carpet actually]
and you finally make a stand
this living room is your land
and encompasses all
including the settee and couch
begone you four legged slouch
don't you growl you grouch
I will fight for what is mine
and sit on the couch to dine
sipping a lovely red wine
WITHOUT any begging canines
when being meek just reeks
and you're no longer weak
