Beauty In Darkness
To enjoy the morning sunrise
we must endure the night sky
The dark brings the brightest stars
whose glory is often stolen by the sun
Everything has beauty
but not all can see it
So often we take shelter away from fading light
and learn to see artificially
If you would look beyond your fears
you would see the stars want to guide and light your way
We work by day and make love by night
We survive the heat of daylight
and restore our souls with the sweetest of dreams
Our hearts still beat, whether awake or asleep
I've given up my path to...

A Limited View
I limited the expression of love to three words and blinded myself to all the other ways you spoke it to me
I limited my patience and cheated myself of the beauty that comes with nurturing your trust
I limited my abilities and short-changed my strength needed to build our foundation

Tangible Love
Nourish me
Caress my soul
I have to feel your skin at 3 am
I need to touch my lips to yours and let our tongues entwine like braided rope
I run my hands across your landscape
I draw my fingers over the vastness of your back
You lay there, unmoving
The stillness of the moment sustains us
I tread my tips along the uneven terrain that is your hips and kiss my way back up into your arms
I close my eyes and dream of love like little children dream of Santa Claus on Christmas Eve
Eyes full of wonder
Tonight I believe

Regret
Calloused fingertips gently sweep skin and follow the path down to meet pale-pink, lacquered nails
Soft hands glide over hardened muscles, continuing on their downward descent
Musk permeates the tangled mess of porcelain-white sheets
Tongues taste dripping sweat
Mouths feel rising heat
Darkened hours are treasured as the daylight burns the sins away
As day turns to dusk, repentance comes down on two knees

Friend
Somewhere up there my life is pre-destined
And all of the people whose lives I will intertwine
Some will only stay for a season
But I know you'll stay for a lifetime
While I'm seeing what life has to offer
And you're busy being all you can be
Just promise we'll always meet in the middle
And save a seat for me
It's easy to turn friends into lovers
But when that fades, where do we go?
No matter what direction life takes us
I think we will always know
That I am your dear friend
And you are mine
And we may have gone back to the start...
And all of the people whose lives I will intertwine

A Decaying Idol
You hang there on your crucifix, Spitting words of venom
Foaming at the mouth, Your lungs hungry for souls
You hand out every fix, Spitting worlds and heavens
Your god stands idly by, An idol in a stained glass hole
You sell your religion through foolish words and hollow promises
Breaking the mold of innocence and what it means to truly believe
You sell your lies through hidden smiles and childish compromises

Your Nails
Oh, how I knew you would change, Still I ran towards you
In the moments leading to my death, I demanded attention
As a child to a monster, I hid beneath the covers in silence
You spoke five words, And walked through the open door
This memory has been choking the me that wants to change
Holding me beneath the hell we created together
Your smile, Your lips, Your tongue, Your throat, Your breath
I’m addicted to the hole you left in my life
I saw the turn of your cheek, I saw the glimmer in your eye
Still I fell, Still I stumbled, Still I staggered...

Soul Dependence
I’m bitter, broken, used up and run dry
I’m foolish, foolhardy, harsh and apologetic
I’m torn, shredded, burned and thrown away
I’m feared, loved, seen and misunderstood
What can I say to make you see me
What can I see to make you say yes
What can I hold to make you lay down
What can I leave to make you give up
I’m not alright, I’m spinning in so many circles
I’m a sucker for the way you see right through me
I hide behind the veil that’s so polluted and corrupted
You’re not mine to lose, You always remind me
My head is killing...

I will never know you as well as razors do

The wolves are out in packs, They smell the blood in your tub

A Picture Frame
If those around me fall to the ground, I swear to fall with them
If we are surrounded by the end’s sound, I swear to open my arms
And as we are consumed in the holy flame, I will shout your name
I swore I would see you again, I swear I’m coming home tonight
I’ve let so many go, I’ve stood by and watched as their hands reached out
I’ve never been so low, I’ve never sank beneath the flames in which angels shout
“Flee from this unholy place, Your heart is too pure to call this paradise”
I’m so sorry, But I knew when I let you go that I would pay this deadly price...

Faded Notes and Tired Dolls
Not enough hope is passed through these lips, Too few pleasing words
I’ve got a thousand words to say, But I’ve realized how few are pleasant
I’m trying to change that, If even for a moment, Step in for a carnival
A chaotic conglomerate of clowns, cows, monkeys, and a few oddities
My mind is raging, My imagination has taken an entire new nation
Full of fresh air, Budding plants and trees that crawled from beneath your feet
A family of outcasts, We’re taking over and taking you beneath the table
To wrap around your eyes and drag you through a land once...

Excuses
My wrists are finally clean, Without a trace of hatred upon them
But my eyes see through healing, I know the scars that lie beneath
My heart is finally safe, Without a trace of love upon it
But my soul sees through healing, I know the blood that I’ve lost
I wish I could wait for you, dear, but the angels have been calling my name for so long
I’ve kept them waiting, I’ve screamed my excuses for so many useless years
I wish I could tell you I love you, but the demons have taken my heart as their own
I’ve held so many hearts, I forgot the feeling of an empty...
