The Hope during the Siege of Leningrad
On that fateful day in September of '41.
The German forces came down like an axe on wood.
Surrounding the great city
They bombarded it with shells every minute of every day.
Cutting off their connection to the world
They starved and bombed the people!
The military did all they could to ensure that everyone was fed
there was never enough
Yet so few turned to cannibalism
Murdering their family and friends for the sake of survival was still shunned
The city wailed and mourned
But there was hope amidst all the death and...

Voices
The voices
They don't quit
They whisper and they scream
They tell me what to do
They argue amongst each other
They are so deafening
Fogging my mind
Sending me into a daze
I find myself doing as they say
My own voice suppressed
My will beat down
They don't quit

A man of God?
So high and mighty!
Lauded as a man of God!
He helps the sick!
And raises the poor!
Yet, there is something more..?
What beneath that cassock hides?
Is it a pair of roaming eyes?
Dark with deceit
And burning with greed
A mind full of sins
Hiding behind the cloth
His treacherous hands working slowly
The people gaze upon him
So infatuated by his deeds
That they ignore his blatant show of hypocrisy!
It was all too late when they awoke
They suddenly found themselves wallowing in sin
Too far...
Lauded as a man of God!

This place..
So large and imposing
It's face weathered
Telling of its many ages having stood
Of the many people that have tended to it
It feels alive
As if it is looming over me
Watching me...
Maybe the others haven't left yet...

God's Angry
God is angry and wrathful
You face the pits of eternal damnation
Hanging precariously above
Only his merciful grace keeps you from falling
The sparks of his divine wrath fly about
Singeing the thread from which you hang
Repent
Repent
Repent!
You make no effort to please him!
The one whom determines your fate!
You are a greater abomination within his eyes than even the most venomous of serpents.
He abhors you.
Change your ways or face his wrath in full.

Relief
His head lolling to the side
His blank eyes staring unto the abyss
All sense of pain has long since left him
His mind has gone numb to the world
Life no longer has meaning
He felt himself slipping away
Upon his face was one last smile
Knowing that no longer shall he suffer

Help..?
The wolves and crows feast hungrily on my flesh and blood. They fear me not, for they know that, even if I could, I would not resist.
The wolves claw and the crows tear. I feel the life, slipping away. I think of my family.. my friends..
How could they leave me here to die?
They watched on as the animals devoured me.
Some even laughed...
What have I done to deserve this in the end...?

Dark?
My eyes suck up life
Draining everything around me
Everyone avoids me
Feeling my piercing glare
I see them
Lying to their lovers
Wives cheating on husband's
Their lies are seen through
And they can feel it
Feel my eyes piercing into their souls
Draining them slowly the longer my gaze rests upon them
I see the lies
I've become untrusting
Guarding myself closely
Draining everything around me
Everyone avoids me
