Letter to The Girl from whom I stole a Star
Our star called himself
Young at heart
He called himself warm
And we thought of him as such
And bathed in his light
I'm sorry that I stole him from you
He made you feel special
And mature
And at 12 years old
It still hurts to let go
He was so clever

It's been so long since I've seen her face
Though I think about her every day
But when I glanced over at myself
In the call, the light just right
I saw her looking back at

My Childhood Friend
Death is a childhood friend of mine
I've held her close all my life
In high school we flirted, though I could never commit
And sophomore year we fought when she took mom instead
Yet she remained a constant comfort
As I become older we technically march closer but we grow more distant
I know I want to live but she is still there
At every slight issue she comforts me
At every minor inconvenience she is remembered
That's why I smile when I look over the edge
Because even though I want to live
I know she's always there

Life
Stop and listen.
What do you hear?
The wind swirling in your ears?
Waves crashing?
Leaves rustling?
Or perhaps the whirs of modern life….?
The buzzing of a computer?
The whooshes of a car?
Do you hear it?
The chaotic rhythm?
The beat of insanity?
The silent tempo of the world around you?
Just breath everything in.
What’s it like?
Is it the smell of flowers?
That salty smell of a sea breeze?
The scent of a forest?
Or maybe...

"Ex"
I call you my ex
Because that’s the only way
To truly convey
Just how much you hurt me
You were my partner in crime
My other other half
Who could effortlessly make me laugh
I loved you
You were my soul mate
In the most platonic sense
Maybe that’s why I held on when things got tense

And even when you made me cry
Being with you made my heart fly

A Discusion About Labels
I am asexual
Because I don’t feel physical attraction
I am panromantic
Or maybe I’m Polyromantic?
It’s hard to know
In theory guys are okay
But in practice the hyper sexuality
That so often is hand in hand with masculinity…
Is off putting
Labels are difficult.
They are confusing.
I use a lot of labels to define myself
And even I’m confused by them sometimes.
That’s why I understand why people ask
“Why do you need so many labels? ...
