Lost of Excitement
Leaves change
Colors in the Fall
Autumn was here
And the leaves
They fall
Winter approached
My father's health
Rapidly declined
On December 21st
He left my mother and I
Behind
He goes
To a peaceful home
As I....
Stay in this miserable hell
Christmas came
And then it gone
I can't remember
If anyone
Greeted me at all
Sitting and thinking
No longer Christmas
Excites me
Like a child
And New Year's came
People's excitement rose
But to me
Watching the ball ...

Trying To : Hold It Together
I….
I’m still here
Holding on
Being strong
For my mother’s sake
I can smile
Laugh
Hold conversations
Giving those
Who knows me
A sense
That I’m holding it together
But deep inside
I’m grieving
Profoundly
Not a day
Since Tuesday
I haven’t shed a tear
Cried at stoplights
Stop signs
In traffic
In my bed
Or wherever I shall be
Just a particular thought
Or listening to others
Can trigger my emotions
And then I flood
My eyes with burning tears ...
I’m still here
Holding on
Being strong
For my mother’s sake
I can smile
Laugh
Hold conversations
Giving those
Who knows me
A sense
That I’m holding it together
But deep inside
I’m grieving

Not a day

He’s Gone
In my thirty eight years
Never once a time
My father
Wasn’t there for me
Now I look
Call
Yell out his name
To only echoes
I hear
Then silence
An empty Lazy Boy
I see
Because my father
He’s gone
Gone away from me
My mother and I
His family
His friends
His associates
This world
Those catfish
He was always catching
His fishing hook
Sank down
In a river, pond, or creek
Now they can swim more
Because

Remembrance
Is what I seek
For the man with
Cold hands but warm heart
I love you
No matter what
We ever argued about
My father
Will always be remembered

Placed on
Every vehicle he drove
Instilled in his head

He took his last breath

Giving Thanks
As I wake
Open my blinds
Let light
Replace the darkness
That was occupying my room
Today
It’s Thanksgiving
Thinking of all the thanks
What I’m thankful for
As I look out
Upon this dreary day
Making out

Happy Thanksgiving

When It Rains, It Pours
When it rains, it pours
Living in a home
Feeling
No love no more
A stranger
In my own home
Walking on eggshells
Everything I do
Gets misconstrued
What I say
Gets taken
Out of context
To the next day
The silent treatment

What’s wrong with me

You don’t see
What you are doing to me
I try so hard
To forgive, forget

A Sad Repeating Trend
Shoot for a star
My dad said
As many as there are
Even a blind man can hit one
But
I’m not my dad
I’m aiming for the moon
My chances of hitting that
Is slim to none
But I don’t settle for the easy
I never give up
Though I might
Speak of it
I love hard
Why break ups
Hurt me so
But I think big
Though my confidence
Falls in between
I do love someone
With all of my heart

Beautiful brown eyes
I love so very much
The season is Fall
In the middle of
Mooresville Pioneer Park
As we stroll along
Hand in hand
A fantastic view
Brown and red leaves
Fluttering to the ground
All around
As we make
Our own path
Sticker bushes
Maybe even
Poison Oak
But our love keeps us
Trekking along
A hidden creek
A muddy hollow
Such a beautiful day
With a beautiful woman
In a
Beautiful unknown place
Hidden from
Public view
I been waiting so...
I love so very much
