POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I started writing during the Great Recession. That time turned into a hidden blessing. After becoming re-employed, I kept writing. My themes are always inspirational, colors, love, desert or Christian.
Would you meet me sometime
Would you meet me sometime
At the space in between
The corner of reckless schism
And the street of broken dreams?
I just covet a good word or two
So long as we break silence
And I will collect an echo
Then leave and recommence.
At the space in between
The corner of reckless schism
And the street of broken dreams?
I just covet a good word or two
So long as we break silence
And I will collect an echo
Then leave and recommence.

Under a sky of celadon -
Under a sky of celadon -
I watched bees huddle
In frenzied expectation
Of riding a flaxen petal.
Lupine and globe mallow
Danced about while sage
Waved at me from below -
Comprising my entourage.
I saw pale butterflies mingle
Within dewy creosotes
Then came an argent gale
Which tugged at their cloaks
And then - the drape shifted
But my vision proves true -
A celadon echo gifted
To me that sunny interlude.
I watched bees huddle
In frenzied expectation
Of riding a flaxen petal.
Lupine and globe mallow
Danced about while sage
Waved at me from below -
Comprising my entourage.
I saw pale butterflies mingle
Within dewy creosotes
Then came an argent gale
Which tugged at their cloaks
And then - the drape shifted
But my vision proves true -
A celadon echo gifted
To me that sunny interlude.

Were I a rose
Were I a rose
I would model graciously
Oblige those of wise choice
And prickle my enemy;
If just a blade of grass
I would blend in nonchalant
And peoplewatch as they pass
With no desire to flaunt.
I would model graciously
Oblige those of wise choice
And prickle my enemy;
If just a blade of grass
I would blend in nonchalant
And peoplewatch as they pass
With no desire to flaunt.

Dont tell it to the wind
Dont tell it to the wind
To be blown away as vapor
Or share it with a gossiper
As fragile as a dandelion.
Dont speak of it on the mountaintop;
Even the clouds have ears.
For fear that the Devil hears
Dont pray for it aloud to God.
Let the wish build up inside
Then straight-faced, release it subtly
As your actions make it be
Until its existence cant be denied.
To be blown away as vapor
Or share it with a gossiper
As fragile as a dandelion.
Dont speak of it on the mountaintop;
Even the clouds have ears.
For fear that the Devil hears
Dont pray for it aloud to God.
Let the wish build up inside
Then straight-faced, release it subtly
As your actions make it be
Until its existence cant be denied.

Always, a change of plans
Always, a change of plans
Interrupts my tranquil course
Set forth by circumstances
It appears, for the worse.
I resent it, I begrudge
It chips away at my mind
Finally, I'm forced to oblige
And surrender my time
But once by hushed words
I learned of a blessing:
What seemed a dreadful recourse
Placed me in a better setting.
That's why when the Thief flees
You shouldn't be too upset
For the Divine may be
Watching out for your interest.

It chips away at my mind
Finally, I'm forced to oblige
And surrender my time

My heart is an empty jardiniere
My heart is an empty jardiniere
Receptive to flowers and affection.
By your wayward glances, I could swear
There is a festering attraction
But speak up bravely; be not passive
And may we start a journey called love.
Receptive to flowers and affection.
By your wayward glances, I could swear
There is a festering attraction
But speak up bravely; be not passive
And may we start a journey called love.

Bees labor not in vain
Bees labor not in vain
For their task is plain.
Listen - how they hum
Around the myoporum.
Purple buds then show forth
Declaring their handiwork.
For their task is plain.
Listen - how they hum
Around the myoporum.
Purple buds then show forth
Declaring their handiwork.

You stole me from a castle
You stole me from a castle
My defiant vassal.
We went butterflyback riding
Into wind that sounded like sighing.
They put us down on a hill when
We felt like walking the glen.
We sat by a river of gold
And talked as the river flowed.
I wished for rain and it came
And in its midst, we played.
Where a rainbow met the ground
The beam, we danced around.
Before it could diminish
I gave you a chocolate kiss
And ours is a fairytale romance
That, to this day, still enchants.
My defiant vassal.

He comes around the wall
He comes around the wall
And I feel my quickened heart.
I dare to look even while
Seconds become a moment.
He passes with dull eyes
And a whiff of musky skin.
I wish I could pass by
As unaffected as him.
And I feel my quickened heart.
I dare to look even while
Seconds become a moment.
He passes with dull eyes
And a whiff of musky skin.
I wish I could pass by
As unaffected as him.

My lover he feels blank
My lover he feels blank
His personality shows through
Those shades of love and kindness
And fears held in check by curfew
Neither brown nor yellow nor black
But blank with diamond edges
That detect Truth and what
I give back that simply is
Neither opaque nor translucent
Nor what spectroscopy in between
But fashioned by the eye of God
Made whole in splendid being.
Neither is love red nor pink
Rather crystalline and pure
And sparkles discreet
Behind some rare perimeter.

Flowers in the desert
Flowers in the desert
Vibrantly grow forth
In yellows and purples
Despite the salty Earth
And when I think about
How birds can fly at all
I am reminded that
Anything is possible.
Vibrantly grow forth
In yellows and purples
Despite the salty Earth
And when I think about
How birds can fly at all
I am reminded that

Good morning, fair cardinal
Good morning, fair cardinal
How are you?
How are your children?
Your plumage is nearly outdone
By the suns golden hue.
The mattress is firm
My blanket is coolly sheer.
Whats that?
Come outside, be with us?
Sorry, my bed is too cozy a lair.
