POEMS AND SHORT STORIES
Poet Introduction
I started writing during the Great Recession. That time turned into a hidden blessing. After becoming re-employed, I kept writing. My themes are always inspirational, colors, love, desert or Christian.

Dry logs redden and snap;
Dry logs redden and snap;
The fire is soon impressive.
The wolf moon takes better shape
As night begins to settle in.
I watch the conflagration spike;
A spark flies off, then others
Like the universe had coaxed them
To become one of the stars.
The fire is soon impressive.
The wolf moon takes better shape
As night begins to settle in.
I watch the conflagration spike;
A spark flies off, then others
Like the universe had coaxed them
To become one of the stars.

Triolet #4
A wider landscape I see beyond;
It beckons to me from afar.
The land has a kaleidoscope dawn
And many wonders that lay beyond.
Run your hands over its grasses blonde;
Catch a whiff of its sacred rose attar.
To a kinder landscape I go beyond;
Someday it will beckon no more.
It beckons to me from afar.
The land has a kaleidoscope dawn
And many wonders that lay beyond.
Run your hands over its grasses blonde;
Catch a whiff of its sacred rose attar.
To a kinder landscape I go beyond;
Someday it will beckon no more.

Triolet #3
For the favor of people and greed
I will not bring shame to my namesake.
A believer's crown, they don't esteem;
For the favor of people and greed
They lie and do a hideous deed
But take heart enjoy what's good and straight
For the favor of people and greed
Will only bring shame to your namesake.
I will not bring shame to my namesake.
A believer's crown, they don't esteem;
For the favor of people and greed
They lie and do a hideous deed
But take heart enjoy what's good and straight
For the favor of people and greed
Will only bring shame to your namesake.

Triolet #2
Where have all the gentlemen gone?
Worldly thoughts have led them astray
Desiring neither love nor brawn.
Where? Have all the gentlemen gone?
Tho my days are short and nights are long
I hold my breath, take note and pray:
Where have all the gentlemen gone?
Worldly thoughts have led them astray.
Worldly thoughts have led them astray
Desiring neither love nor brawn.
Where? Have all the gentlemen gone?
Tho my days are short and nights are long
I hold my breath, take note and pray:
Where have all the gentlemen gone?
Worldly thoughts have led them astray.

The Arizona Queen of the Night
She is a most mysterious flower
The one seen dancing in the moonlight.
The Arizona Queen of the Night
In a pale gown, appears near Junes height.
Have you been lucky enough to see her
The Arizona Queen of the Night?
She is a most mysterious flower.
She is a most mysterious flower

The Arizona Queen of the Night

She is a most mysterious flower.

Gravity between us
Gravity between us
Is forever pulling;
Where the one lover goes -
The other tags along
For since the day we met -
The universe implied
That my heart and your heart
Were set to collide.
Whatever happens -
The orbit dictates
We go and our hands
Are locked for always.
If we are flung abroad -
We will be a twain
Of rogue planets brought
Together again.
Is forever pulling;
Where the one lover goes -
The other tags along
For since the day we met -
The universe implied
That my heart and your heart
Were set to collide.
Whatever happens -
The orbit dictates
We go and our hands
Are locked for always.
If we are flung abroad -
We will be a twain
Of rogue planets brought

Where the children go to play
Where the children go to play
Is where the summer grass endures
And sunbeams - like a cascade -
Pour down upon their bronze shoulders.
This - the children have learned well:
Butterflies don't really flutter -
Instead - they dance a sky waltz
To the cicadas' fond clamor.
Every breeze is a giant's sigh
That brushes their roseate jowls;
Every cloud - some foam in the sky
Behind which angels may be found.
What they know - they won't divulge
But they know what each new day...
Is where the summer grass endures
And sunbeams - like a cascade -
Pour down upon their bronze shoulders.
This - the children have learned well:
Butterflies don't really flutter -
Instead - they dance a sky waltz
To the cicadas' fond clamor.

Color my small world -
Color my small world -
Oh, fair Yeshua -
With a streak of globe mallow
Inside a rocky draw
And the morning calm
Of bergamot and lupine -
So I can stop time
And set my gaze upon them -
And a swath of poppies
Glowing in the sun
And a glint in the breeze
As if to show Your love.
I'll go and walk about
The garden variety -
Knowing that this niche
Is where I want to be.

A nice prescription of sleep
A nice prescription of sleep
I took when the day proved awry
And found myself when I blinked
In a dreamscape of its own kind.
I could hardly believe it
But I saw a meadow without end;
I stopped my crying to think
Of where the tiller went.
I saw in hues that'd never been;
The sky emoted rest.
That place - known only to me -
Brought me there at behest
And of time? What did it mean
To the birds above the field?
To the excitable bee
Nourished by a fallen tear?
Suddenly - I...

Venus rages brightly tonight
Venus rages brightly tonight
But the night is thick with shame.
It doesn't cool my round thoughts
Nor hold my soul to the flame.
Some things just can't be said;
Neither can they be helped.
These things should be weathered -
And through it all - be felt.
Pieces of me - I try to collect
Before they can fall away
And I guard them - resolute
That something of those remain.
But the night is thick with shame.
It doesn't cool my round thoughts
Nor hold my soul to the flame.
Some things just can't be said;
Neither can they be helped.
These things should be weathered -
And through it all - be felt.

Before they can fall away
And I guard them - resolute
That something of those remain.
