What Happened?
I tried to be everything
She wanted me to be
Although I stayed
In constant misery
I tried to be romantic
And I tried to be tough
But for her, my best
Just wasn't good enough
I would often ask her
Baby, what can I do
How can I prove
My love for you is true

A Nightmare (Not on Elm Street)
All your attempts failed
To lay me to rest
You shot me in the head
And stabbed me in the chest
You tried to hang me
I hung from your noose
But you didn't expect me
To actually get loose
I'm still living
After you slit my wrist
You injected a poison in me
That I was able to resist
You pushed me off a building
To the streets below
Took a bat to the back of my head
With a vicious blow
You tried to drown me in a pool
You ran me down with a car

Has failed so far

Get Out Of My Head
I locked you away
As a forbidden memory
Trying to make you
A piece of history
My mind tried to wipe you
Out of existence
But for some reason my heart
Put up resistance
I don't want this love
I don't want to miss you
But maybe it's my punishment
For what I put you through
You deserve better than me
I honestly admit this
So get out of my head
Go find true joy and bliss
Although I'm not the person
You used to know
It was for the best
You let me go
What you needed from me

All I ever wanted
Was someone to hold me tight
A comforting voice to tell me
Everything will be alright
I just want to know I matter
That someone thinks about me
And that my loneliness
Isn't really meant to be
I'm too scared to ask anyone
For fear of rejection
So I keep quiet
For my heart's protection
But I wonder if anybody sees me
When they walk by

Live For What?
Why do I always feel
So empty and all alone
Billions of people on this earth
And not one friend to call my own
I have no ambitions
No life-long ultimate goal
All I have is a broken heart
And a dying soul
I've cried for so long
I've almost drowned in my own tears
I can't go on like this
A victim of my own fears
Screaming does no good
Nobody seems to hear my pleads
As I fall further into the abyss
With no idea where it leads
I try to run from my past
But it always catches me
Pushing me harder and harder...

You helped conceive me
This might be true
But as long as I live
I'll never become like you
I'm not going to keep drinking
To drown my depression
I won't use my wife and children
To exert my aggression
You can't control your life
So you take it out on me
I guess it's true what they say

Why does the world
Have to be like this
Through one person's misery
Another finds bliss
Cries of pain and agony
Fall upon deaf ears
Some turn a blind eye
Leaving others to their fears
A woman cheats on her husband
Or so she is accused
Everyone calls her a harlot
Nobody asks if she was abused
Nobody asked if she was beaten
Or mistreated in anyway
So she's branded by society
Without getting her say
A man hasn't seen his children
And classified as a deadbeat

Have You Ever...
You couldn't walk a mile
In my shoes
Unless you have absolutely
Nothing to lose
You think you've seen hell
The suffering and despair
You haven't seen anything
Believe me, I've been there
So don't complain about a dent
In your car's door
Or get pissed about a spot
That wasn't on your shirt before
If those are your only concerns
Then count your lucky stars
That you haven't been through what I have
To receive these vicious scars
Have you ever been robbed
Or beaten half to death
Wondering how much longer...

Faceless
He roams through the darkness
Only to stay out of sight
His face remains unseen
Under the cover of night
He's done nothing wrong
His only mistake was being born
A kind heart and gentle soul
Yet by this world, he is torn
His face ruined and disfigured
Through no fault of his own
People are too scared of his looks
So he spends his days alone
But he doesn't hold a grudge
He pities those with fear
They can't see beyond his face
So for them, he sheds a tear
