Reasons to Die

Why does the world
Have to be like this
Through one person's misery
Another finds bliss

Cries of pain and agony
Fall upon deaf ears
Some turn a blind eye
Leaving others to their fears

A woman cheats on her husband
Or so she is accused
Everyone calls her a harlot
Nobody asks if she was abused

Nobody asked if she was beaten
Or mistreated in anyway
So she's branded by society
Without getting her say

A man hasn't seen his children
And classified as a deadbeat
Nobody realizes his pain
That he can barely make himself eat

Nobody thought to ask him
Why he hasn't been there
The vindictive mother made it seem
As if he doesn't care

A kid takes a gun to school
To confront his worst fear
And stop the oversized punk
That has bullied him all year

Nobody bothered to ask
What was the cause of his pain
He begged for help before
Now he's declared clinically insane

A young girl suffering
Decides to commit suicide
Everybody says they had no idea
But one of them lied

The most popular girl
Made her a joke at school
Teasing and tormenting
To make herself look cool

Corrupted politicians
Perverted teachers
Murderers and rapists
Along with lying preachers

I fear what's beyond death
But I don't understand
These tragedies that occur
Across this land

I wish I had the nerve
To blow my brains out
And remove myself
From the shadow of doubt

So for now I'll go on
As I suffer and cry
Living in a world
That gives me reasons to die
