Every single mile paved with arrogance
This path was created out of necessity
No stone unturned nothing left to chance
Another clear case of mistaken identity
Underneath the surface blood is boiling
Losing ground to this vicious undertow
Against the backdrop a serpent is coiling

Crash
Calloused hands built the world we know
It takes manpower to maintenance luxury
Who cleans shit and shovels all the snow
Spending lifetimes knee deep in drudgery
Privilege in no means suggests one is wise
Unqualified humans are selected next to rise
Strong backs provided all the heavy lifting
Made to carry stones on splintered bones
Who’s on the ground as the tide is shifting
Fighting for country in multiple time zones
Heartless leaders aren’t capable of empathy
Constantly playing the victim for the sympathy
...

Be Leery
There’s always gotta be a middle man
A go-between for all parties involved
In this world nothing ever goes to plan
As the art of negativity quickly evolved
Ruthless people only look at the outside
Unable to express what’s going on inside
Seems time was wasted on semantics
Instead of learning to love one another
Tears of poets and hopeless romantics
Delivering a eulogy for a fallen brother
Wake up before the storm destroys hope
Be leery of the man who’s offering a rope

Final Breath
A serpent’s shadow in the pale moonlight
Bad dreams are forged into a tragic reality
Words being weaponized as a form of spite
Calloused heart and a doomsday mentality
Congressman’s wet dream to bend the knee
Making blood pacts with the powers that be
A follower with no ideology is a loyal corpse
Ready to walk off a ledge when it’s required
Over time absolute power shapes and warps
Without a conscience the mind is hardwired
Empty heads remaining buried in the sand
Only to privatize hope by seizing public land

The Torchbearer
Deep
within the ocean's heart
light is scarce
yet sometimes rare
—a little angler fish’s torch
illuminates
the darkness there
A fishing lure
it softly sways
temptation
in an endless haze
so seldom seen
amid the dark
a false beacon
of appetite
Her humpbacked nature
in eerie depths
where silence holds
its secrets...
within the ocean's heart

Tired Eyes
Been traveling this highway a lifetime
Avoiding conflict that rubbed me numb
Needing momentum to make the climb
Painfully living under the tyrants thumb
Tired eyes observe the horror take hold
Human sacrifice to appease a false king
Hell is witnessing innocence being sold
While a jester bows to kiss a phony ring

Like I Do
I wonder if German sympathizers
ones who risked their lives
to hide Jews
felt like I do now
watching history
circle back 'round
Did compassionate colonials
feel the same
toward Native Americans
my sacred ancestors
Or benevolent individuals
for the LGBTQ+ community
with a mind wise enough
to know we don't choose
who we Love
because Love is Love
and leads only the worthy
feel like I do
Those who are different
in race, heritage
and religious...

...at first glance
quiet
plain Jane
just a house mouse
past my youth
so they ignore me
look right past...
counting me out of the fight
...fools
let me tell you
what this disregarded observer sees
while they're overlooking little ol' me
knowledge is power...
so they stunt our education
making it easier to spoon feed the masses
lies they've disguised as reality
pap with no actual nutrients
the sheep will eat it up
& ask for seconds
they view diversity... ...

Wicked games exploited as entertainment
Behind the scenes reveals a different story
Famous filmmaker waits for his arraignment
For scandals that will erase all former glory
Secrets often get buried in a shallow grave
With a phone call most problems disappear
Flesh is payment and what monsters crave
Casting couch starlet is cast in a role of fear
Ritualistic art has to mimic something real

unzipped lips
I'm still getting used to this
releasing thoughts freely & without pause
I let them blow
& the old me reaches up
tickling the back of my mind
are you sure you didn't just overstep?
but then I remember...
overstepping is how we get out of the box
& I'm tired of being crated & labeled
harmless
so I let 'er rip
giving voice to what's always been present
scratching like sandpaper of coarse grit
burning my imprisoning throat
begging to get out
I've always had a lot to say
just too...
