Smoking
She took the cigarettes and packed them three times
Cutting the wrapper with a slick fingernail unraveling it
A flick of her wrist and one slid a bit further than the rest
Only two fingers extracted and slowly lifted it to her lips
She took my zippo and swung it open deftly lighting it in pace
Long drag ... our eyes meet and she blew the smoke all in my face

Lost
My eyes became balloons
When I targeted the prize
My heart grew the size of moons
Kidnapping my breath like a child
On the brink to become baptized
My childhood flashed
In brief moments of elation
So many smiles cracked my face
Surrounded by the annoyance
Of delivery vexation
The price was right
Avoiding a crater in my wallet
Though my childhood is priceless
I was more than happy to swallow it
Daydreams and dreams at night
Playing hooky for just a bite
Tournaments with friends...
When I targeted the prize

BURNOUT
the sun is possessively
glaring without blinking
too much warmth is blazing my being
longing for the cloud's shading
craving for a drop of rain
to save me from this pain
I am wilting even before my time
like a dying stalk of red rose on post Valentine
I need to breathe
please give me some space
from your brand of love
suffocating my spirit
please give me back my freedom
to revive my self-respect
so I can be the real me
once again
...
glaring without blinking

Pulling away at my strings
A puppet master without employ
Sea-sawing on my impulses as the pendulum swings
You mock at my suffrage
From the refuge of your store
Granting immunity to my orderlies’ roughage
Discouraging my efforts for more
You sit on my ego
Fly fishing my impatience
Breaking and entering is illegal
So I’m straight jacketing my patients
Childhood memories rage
Throwing popcorn from the rear seats of the glass
So many awesome titles rumble in the beat em’ up stage

Stars Once Binary
The sun rose high in the tepid skies
I sit and wait
Tapping the table with an errant digit
It's my turn to fidget
I check my phone
The time is right
Tick Tock tick
Was it forgotten?
I look at the open doorway
Sun spilling through shining
Lunch crowd taking their fill
Seems more speaking than dining
The time rolls on
Patrons come and go
I am truly disappointed
At my missed no show
I signal the waiter to pay the bill
I gather my things slowly almost still
Then a...

Delicate Threads
Silvered tendrils reach out into nothingness
Devoid of intent floating, searching for what one knows not
Others of different hues are there also
A rainbow community of tendrils silently reaching
Passing countless others, unknowingly
As each journey is to their own and only seen when looked upon with purpose
For eons this has been the way of searching souls in the aether
For eons countless have faired singly, never finding peace
Sometimes, as such, very rarely a connection is made
Soul to soul ...
When this happens...
