Give me two or three poems from this site that you think are fantastic. Dig back into your reading lists, especially the folks that have been here a while, and bring up the really good poems that inspired/inspire you. Please do not post your own poems. For me....This was the first poem I read on this site and it still blows me away.A shame she is leaving, maybe she'll reconsider...

and this person's poems were quirky and original. Also some of the first poems I read on here...

and I think the last line of this poem(and of course it's entirety) is just fucking killer...

So what are some of your favorites? This place could use some positive discussion about poetry to clear the air.

very hard to chose, though I will add that all the poems on my reading list are there because I recommend them. I went back a couple of years to get these. My DeLorean needs a service

I've picked three poems that had a huge influence on me when I first joined DU and these poets are still a major influence for me now, even though they probably don't know it.
"The Hard Way" by Steve Braggs was the first poem to go on my reading list. When I read this poem I was totally blown away. It was clear this guy was in a league of his own and I knew I found a poetry website with real poets.

LobodeSanPedro is also the real deal. When I read "Dark City" and listened to the reading in a comp that LSP and I entered, I sat there in stunned silence. Everything about this poem, the style, the imagery, the way the words flow and the conviction in his voice is just sheer brilliance. This was the start of our friendly rivalery and mutual respect for each other.

"Dead As I Need It" is another mind numbing piece of writing by a poet that I consider one of DUP's best. I don't thinks there's a female poet on DU that wouldn't want to be poetically fucked by Deathproof and the men just want to get in his fucking head, because everyone wants to write as bad as Deathproof.

Great poems-thanks. Exactly why I started this post-there's really some good stuff on this site but I think some of it gets buried.
